We rented a home through Bluewater Vacation Rentals during Thanksgiving week. If you're thinking of using them when you go to the Emerald Isle area, think twice. Below is an email I sent during our stay with them at "Sandi's Point of View." Some of the issues were taken care of, but others were not because the owner does her own maintenance. The representation online and the property are totally different.
The photos are apparently very old-for example there is a chunk of the 12 x 12 inch tile missing on the kitchen floor and the adjacent tile is loose. The picture on the website doesn't show this. The picture of the ground level patio area is definitely not the same as what is here. We're just really frustrated that the house that was represented is NOT the house we're staying in.
Here is a list of some of the problems we've encountered: Outdoors: 1. Screen on both porch doors are ripped and detached. 2. Door handles and latches on both screen porches are rusty (one has a hole) 3. There are at least two holes in the fence-one has plywood leaning against it, the other does not. My dog was able to escape. In order to let him out I have to use a leash. 4.
Various items under the deck such as wood, ladder and PVC pipes are exposed to the yard-dangerous for dogs. 5. One outdoor light fixture is non-existent and wires are hanging down. There's also wires hanging next to another light fixture. 6. Wood on the hammock is broken and both are dirty. 7. Latch on deck leading downstairs is rusted and sometimes doesn't latch properly. 8. Latch on the deck leading to the cargo lift is rusted.
It's hard to open. 9. Gas grill needs cleaning-previous tenants left food on it. 10. Heater is severely rusty and has a huge hole in it. 11. There's no entry from the ground floor-have to go outside to get to the car/yard area. Indoors: 1. Deep cleaning should have been done-couches up and downstairs are dirty. There were insects on stairs, roaches in hall near air intake and near fireplace downstairs. Cobwebs on lamp upstairs on from sconce to ceiling fan.
We had live yellow jackets in the house. 2. Ice dispenser is out of order. 3. Fireplaces don't work-it's advertised as an amenity on your website. The fireplace downstairs says "Do not use." 4. Hand railing leading upstairs has chipped paint. 5. Several lights throughout the house don't work: worst is the light over downstairs shower, which makes for a dark bathroom at night. 6.
Floor in both showers downstairs is gummy-obviously had some damage and they tried to repair themselves. They used some sort of epoxy that is slippery when you use the showers. 7. There's no toilet paper holder in queen bath - but there is a piece of metal sticking out of the wall where one should be. 8. In twin room, there are drawers in bureau that have no bottom. 9.
In king room downstairs, there are drawers without handles and one of the lights is out. 10. The pinball machine lights up but is not playable/usable. 11. Vent in laundry room is loose from ceiling. 12. One of the den lights is out. 13. Shower knob comes off in queen bath. 14. The internet password and wireless info on your website is incorrect. 15. Linens had a hair in one of the sealed bags.
We had to launder them before using. 16. There were ants on the ceiling of the downstairs king room. 17. Downstairs shower in hall has abrasive water pressure and there is no fan (this is in addition to the plaster problem on the floor and broken light over the shower.) 18. The side jets in the upstairs king bathroom don't work. They were dripping when we arrived. 19.
There's damage to the window sills in the master bath. 20. There's a chunk of tile missing from the kitchen and the adjacent tile is loose. 21. The wine chiller is not working-it's still 62-degrees even though we tried to turn it down

This company caused their own self inflicted problems. They work with rental properties but at the end of the day, all of the maintenance and refund/discount options remain at the discretion of the property owner. This means if you have a problem with your property there is no real assistance they can provide if the owner chooses to ignore you. I would not recommend this for anyone visiting the island. Nags head is a far more cost effective option with better options. ***Edit*** the response from Bluewater was never followed through. We have already attempted to reconcile the issues before posting this comment.

DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM BLUEWATER! Especially if you have children and care about their health and safety. Let me start by saying we have two small children. A one year old and a two year old. Our one year old is immune compromised so we are extra careful where we stay and where we go so that they do not come in contact with any unnecessary germs.
Especially right now. We rented a home on 123 Pinewood Circle called Oceanfront Escape. It was the house from hell. As soon as we walked in the smell of urine and mold smacked us right in the face. Roaches were everywhere and when we called to complain we were told they were "palmetto bugs" and are indigenous to the area. We looked up "palmetto bug" and discovered that is just another name for cockroach.
The house was filthy. We ended up going to Publix the first night we were there and buying Lysol, Clorox wipes, and cleaner just so we could clean everything ourselves. The floors were disgusting and we definitely did not allow our children to walk or play on them without shoes or playpen. The air vents in the home were rusty and mildew and mold covered them.
The deck had rusty nails exposed and we are pretty sure we saw rodents in the downstairs outdoor area. The interior downstairs was the worst, the smell was awful and I am pretty sure this may be where Covid came from. The only way I know to explain the smell is a moldy urinal. It was dark and damp and had toilets that were running and would flush on their own.
I have asthma and after being in the downstairs for more than 30 minutes I became ill and sick at my stomach. There was just and uneasy eerie feeling in the whole house but really bad in the downstairs. We checked in on Saturday and called Sunday to complain. They sent a cleaning crew out on Sunday who drenched the downstairs in Fabuloso and bleach. BLUEWATER said they would send out an "investigator" to check out the smell on Monday.
After being awake all night long Sunday night worrying what my babies were being exposed to I called BLUEWATER first thing Monday morning and told them it was a health issue and we were NOT staying in the home. I was told there was a process to switch homes and they would have to call manager and homeowner to see if we could be let out of the lease. Was told the homeowner lived in another country but they would do everything they could to get in touch with them. Things seemed to move a lot faster once I told them about my child's health.
The "inspector" came out and validated my concerns. We were moved Monday evening into a condo. This was a nice condo but we did not want a condo as that is why we rented a house. We were only given the difference in price. We spent 3 of our vacation days in a house from hell and had been looking forward to this trip for a long time and it honestly ruined our whole vacation.
We work hard for our money and it is hard having a child who is immune compromised and we were just hoping for a nice break at the beach in our home with our family. It was the worst vacation we ever had. We will never use BLUEWATER again. I wouldn't rent a dog house from them. Also, we did a google search of the home we were in and found a review on Yelp about the very same house we were in and the reviewer complained of the same things only BLUEWATER did nothing to help them out.
This upset me for many reasons but the main one was BLUEWATER knew about the issues and continued to rent this home out regardless of safety and the health of others. So buyer beware bc what you see online is not what you will be given. One other side note. the property manager was useless and should be held accountable for such negligence and disregard for anything but her pocket.
We have been coming to Emerald Isle for years and have used BLUEWATER in the past and had no issues but never again. Others in our family go to Emerald Isle as well and we have warned them and they will not be using BLUEWATER anymore either. My advice is for you to find another realty company or VRBO!

Staying at one of their properties in Emerald Isle, NC. Water heater has gone out. Have tried contacting them via every method of communication available to get someone dispatched. I understand it's Thanksgiving and people take holidays. But you need to have someone on call to at least accept service calls. Couldn't take showers, can't wash dishes. Can't even get a human being on the phone or even an answering service. Unless you want to gamble on your family vacation go elsewhere.

Well our vacation started great but on Saturday morning about 3am there was a loud noise. After some investigation I found we didn't have any water. Called all the numbers I was provided by Bluewater with No answer. Went all day with no water. Part of my family was there for honeymoon and they left the beach early because of the inconvenience. Never heard first word about why we didn't have water.
My mom was in another room and had lots of contact with Bluewater through out the day, although everything they told her was lies. I carried water for me and for other rooms so people could flush there toilets. Now I'm home with my back in terrible shape from carrying water like I was in a third world country. When checking out we were told to call back next day to discuss compensation only to find out we were just screwed over by Bluewater. Seems they don't like repeat customers. My family has spent a bunch of money staying with them over the years, guess we will find a new place to stay. My name is Chris Wilborn and I am a very dissatisfied guest.

On our family's first day at "A Salty Piece of Land, " Bluewater Vacation Rentals told us we were going to have to leave the property. I made the reservation in April 2021, and it was smooth process, including getting approval for our family service dog. We arrived at 11pm on Sunday night, 8/15, after a nine hour drive, and found a clean house that fit our family of four adults and one infant perfectly. (The beds were missing pillow cases - I called Monday morning and they were delivered.) However, soon after that I was called by Bluewater about our dog, and the woman I spoke with confirmed that she saw the email approvals.
A few hours later, at 4pm, I received another call call from Bluewater; this time demanding additional documentation beyond the certificate that was sent in April. I was told the homeowner wanted us to vacate the premises by 5 pm. I was allowed one hour to get the documents they required, or leave. (Ashley did not like the alternative I offered of putting us in another, similar house.) When I sent more information, I was told that we would hear back by 11am on Tuesday.
We never received another call - no thank you; no confirmation; and no apology for inconveniencing (severely disrupting) our vacation. This situation hung over our family for the rest of our time in Emerald Isle. In reality, I should never have been involved after the email approvals were found. Bluewater and the homeowner are the business partners for renting this house, and those two parties should have worked out a resolution between them, rather than involving me.

***Edit in response to Bluewater's response: This is a misleading response from Bluewater to make it appear as though they will make things right. In reality, I had been in touch with Bluewater's Guest Relations department since day 2 of our trip and continued to be in contact with them on a regular basis for more than a month AFTER our trip trying to come to a resolution.
The bottom line is that Guest Relations refused to offer proper compensation for the poor condition of the property and everything we had to deal with. They continued to argue that matters were dealt with in a "timely manner" and that the property was "habitable." We rented SEA WINDS WEST through Bluewater Vacation Rentals in July 2021 and had such a disappointing experience.
Please beware before renting this property. This property looks very nice from the photographs published on Bluewater's website, however, the property was in poor condition upon our arrival. This home has carpet on all the many stairs in the house as well as carpet in every bedroom. The carpet in every room and on every stair had dark, filthy stains! Bluewater's idea of "cleaning" the carpets was to simply vacuum over the stains.
The carpets were so dirty, you would not even want to walk on them in bare feet. The shower tracks were full of thick black mold. The mold was so thick that the water pressure caused the mold to chip off (landing on us!) while we were showering. After calling in these issues upon our arrival it took THREE days for anyone to come out to the property to properly clean the showers.
While Bluewater addressed the carpets by having them properly cleaned, we also dealt with the following: stains on bedding, yellowed pillows, unpleasant odor in master bedroom, dirty coffee maker, stopped up drains in all bathrooms, crumbs on kitchen counter and floor upon arrival, broken cabinets, and stained coffee cups. It took THREE days of continuous calling about these issues AND having to send in pictures of what we were dealing with to get any resolution.
On the third day, we still had cleaners in our home at 10pm working to clean the showers. We couldn't even put our young children to bed that night until the work was completed. Upon surveying the property after our arrival, we requested another property in which to stay and were told no other properties were available to move us to. We then asked to be refunded for half of our stay due to the multitude of issues and the length of time it took to resolve the issues.
We were told that process could not begin until AFTER we had checked out and was contingent upon the homeowner's approval for any form of compensation. The homeowners of SEA WINDS WEST refused to offer ANY compensation for the condition of their property. The homeowners claimed that everything was addressed in a timely manner. How does 10pm on the third day of a 7 night trip qualify as timely? Bluewater offered a VERY minimal amount of compensation that didn't even come close to making up for everything we had to deal with on our "vacation." This experience essentially ruined our stay and left us with little trust and faith in Bluewater Vacation Rentals.
Please do your research and be extremely careful in selecting a property to rent. Bluewater's website, photographs, and reviews on their website of SEA WINDS WEST was not an accurate representation of the property. SEA WINDS WEST never should have been rented in the condition it was in upon our arrival. Beware that these homeowners have neglected the condition of their property and will refuse any compensation! Furthermore, during Covid times when Bluewater's website indicates enhanced cleaning protocol, we found the cleaning to not be anywhere close to thorough! Crumbs were left behind on the kitchen counter and the floor.
A previous guest's used towels and used fitted sheet were left behind in one of the bedrooms. Mold and filthy carpets.this home did not even have the very basics met. We love the beach, but this home was terrible and we couldn't wait to get home!

I could give them 0 stars, I would. "Sunnyside" was not so sunny. It is situated on the main street - Emerald Drive. So instead of ocean sounds, we had 45 MPH traffic sounds. The front bedroom was graced by that sound night and day. They made us wait to check in. It was downright dirty, dirt, fuzz and hairballs in the corners in the bathroom, big buildup of rusty crap in the shower door runner. 3 of the overhead lights and one bedroom lamp did not work, the over the stove light was broken, inadequate lighting overall.
One lamp in the living room, one lamp in two of the 4 bedrooms. The sliding glass door lock was broken so we had a rinky-dink piece of white plastic plumbing pipe to lay in the filthy door track to ""lock" it. Bugs- huge dead cock roach behind the bedside table, biting flies and plenty of millipedes. Empty chip bags under the bed and behind bedside tables. Pillows looked like the had been used in a garden. Started up the grill and the tons of crap in the bottom ignited and we had a fire to add to the thrills.
And every single stair step had a pee stain, with many more through out the house. Son had to take apart the shades to make them work and there were missing panels on the sliding glass door in the room I was in. Good stuff?--- ummm--TVs worked. Stay far away!

Sharing our Bluewater experience at Pelican's Roost at 201 Salter Path in Pine Knoll Shores. When we arrived, both large outside trash containers were overflowing with trash. It took two days of calling Bluewater to get the trash picked up. In the meantime, we had to put trash bags outside on the lower deck area, where they attracted huge roaches that were a delight to deal with when we finally were able to put our bags in the cans.
Then there's the lack of a working washer! Based on the note kindly left by the previous guests, it had not been operating since the beginning of the month. Notification of this by Bluewater before we left home would have been appreciated as this would have allowed us to pack more clothing and lessened the need to travel 45 minutes each way to spend more of our precious vacation time in a coin laundry.
Huge inconvenience. Maintenance did offer to have a repair person install the pump on Thursday as long as I could wait inside the house for half of another precious day. (We had a dog and we were not sure he wouldn't scratch at the door if we left and closed him in a bedroom while a stranger was in the house.) I refused to waste any more of the time we paid hard-earned money for in this fashion.
In addition, the TVs in the two bedrooms on the main level do not work. We don't watch much TV at the beach, but it's nice to have at bedtime. There were areas of the house that had clearly not been cleaned for quite some time and some kitchenware was quite dirty. Then, on Wednesday, I was startled to see a Bluewater employee right outside the bathroom window.
This is quite surprising when one is semi-clothed! Apparently he was at the property to add chemicals to the hot tub which had not been working during the week before. When asked why he was doing this while the house was occupied, he stated that "it's in the contract". Hmm. That makes all better. Maybe better communication by Bluewater could have alleviated this situation entirely.
Note that we were in continuous contact with Bluewater guest services and maintenance about these issues. We requested a modest refund about 10 days ago and were told that it is up to the property owner. Most correspondence seems to be geared to Bluewater avoiding any responsibility for our less than ideal vacation. It is my opinion that most of our dissatisfaction could have been avoided by better property management.
Still waiting on a resolution. On the plus side, the house has spectacular views from the main living area, and the deck is expansive and awesome. The outdoor showers were also a nice feature. I suggest others consider rentals with another property management company.

My family and I have rented numerous vacation homes from Bluewater for years and have always been beyond satisfied, until this year. As soon as we got to the rental home the code to get into the house was incorrect, it smelled like animals, the house had not been cleaned at all upon arrival, there was pet hair in the beds and on the furniture, sand all over the floor, and a door that hardly worked without breaking your hand.
The pictures were extremely deceiving and need to be updated to portray what the house really is. The location was wonderful but when you pay 3K a week to stay you expect the home to at least be clean and appliances to work. The dryer had standing water in it, dishwasher did not work, and the refrigerator did not cool until we called maintenance and that was an act of god to get them out there.
It took 3 days to get the refrigerator to work. In the mean time our food was spoiling. I will never rent from this company again. I made them aware of every issue and they assured me they would make it right at the end of the stay. They gave no refund not even a refund for the cleaning fee that was paid that clearly was straight profit considering the unit was nasty upon arrival and half cleaned after we called to have a cleaning crew come out. Considering Covid it was very concerning the unit was not clean prior to entry because we have 2 compromised immune individuals with us and a pregnant woman. This behavior is unacceptable and unethical

Do not rent from this company. Rented a house that was located at 123 Pinewood Circle Pine knoll shores NC. Aug 13th to the 20th 2021House was filthy was infested with cockroaches and spotted a Rat on the deck. Bluewater misrepresented the property on their website. Missing rails on deck, black mold was present throughout the property, particularly in the HVAC system.
They claim it's not black mold but I would love to see the test results. However I am sure we will never see them. Additionally the house smelled of urine and the furniture was ripped and filthy. They claimed the owner was not willing to to refund us any money. The sad thing the owner is a medical doctor (Dr Richard Caswell) Bluewater gave us $1000 on a $5000 rental.
I wanted a full refund but would of settled for $2500. Bluewater and the owner of this property have a total disregard for the health and safety of anyone who rents from them. I could list many more issues but I have wasted enough time dealing with this greedy company and property owner. By the way they continue to rent this dilapidated beach house, and is rented through the end of October. Be aware DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! You will be sorry.

Nope Nope Don't do it! I thought i would try a new rental office on Emerald Isle this year. The place we rented had clean sheets and towels and that is where the greatness ended. Very very dirty, I will not bore you with details. I believe the condition of your beach rental reflects the integrity of the company renting it. Look elsewhere.

The unit is wonderful. Unfortunately Blue water vacation rentals rented us a unit with a known to be broken dryer. Only offered mediocre laundry service. We have a family of five and we need a dryer. The dryer was the deal breaker for renting this unit for almost $2,000 a week. So far no offer for any compensation, credit or apology. We have two days left to see if they reach out.
If they don't we will take this matter further. UPDATE:.My review has been updated. I have been somewhat hard on Blue water and should have been more tolerant and grateful for their relentless efforts to satisfy a customer they encounter once a year. Thanks to Nikki, Andrea and especially Shelley. I still highly recommend Bluewater for their efforts, integrity and kindness.

We have been renting from Bluewater for many, many years. We are sitting in a very very, clean condo looking at the beautiful newly replenished beach. As far as service, we had a door knob that wouldn't open(old and rusty) and Bluewater was here in 15 minutes. The technician is actually going to Ace Hardware to get a new one right now. While he was here a smoke alarm chirped. He immediately replaced the battery. I didn't have to even ask. He just said let me get a battery from my truck and it was done. It's going to be a great week!

ZERO stars~ ZEROOOOOOOO This is not a customer oriented business. They do not believe in customer service and their business plan mirrors a scheme of nothing more than just that a scheme. Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency of Emerald Isle, NC, does not represent a reputable business and their claim to being voted best vacation rental agency can not be taken seriously when they ignore their customers call for help when their own Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency employee is hostile and verbally abusive prompting a police report.
A vacation getaway on the Crystal Coast on the delightful Emerald Isle~ is simply not possible with this company. Please, heed this warning. Book directly with an owner and do not provide this company with an opportunity to wreck your vacation. I paid for an oceanfront condo at Ocean Reef 9B2 that had been promoted as a safe and clean property. Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency advertises that they are working diligently with customers as the follow stringent COVID19 safety/sanitation procedures.
The advertisements indicate that they Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency follow CDC guidelines but they DON'T! They mislead families into thinking that they guarantee stringent cleaning policies and follow COVID19 sanitation procedures. This is not true. Please do not trust Blue Water, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency to take your health and wellness seriously.
They do not care about you, the customer, under any circumstance. I arrived at the property. It was dirty. I called. They sent me a hostile employee who upon arrival was extremely aggressive, flailing her arms about, yelling at me to the point that I felt unsafe. I had not even had a conversation with this employee because I was on the phone with a Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency representative.
The representative heard the commotion, she heard the employee aggressively berating me for reporting the dirty property. I requested further assistance and told the Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency representative with whom I was speaking to on the phone to please send someone to de-escalate the situation. I was told there was nothing she could do, there was no one available to assist me, there was no one she could contact.
This is the mirror charade/scheme mentioned above-I was begging for assistance during a hostile situation brought on by THEIR employee and got nowhere. I was being verbally attacked by a Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency employee to my face and the representative on the phone reported that there was no one she could contact to de-escalate and resolve the situation.
I left the property. I did not stay a single night or day. I was onsite for approximately 2 hours. I was extremely shaken by the abuse I endured and filed a report with the Emerald Isle Police Department. Prior to filing the report, I tried to communicate with Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency to assist me with a different property as I had no place to stay.
They responded with, "I'm sorry we have no other property available." This is suppose to be the BEST Vacation Rental Agency and they have no other property available? After spending the night, an hour away in a hotel room, again, I requested a resolution from Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency. They gave me the run around. I was verbally abused by their employee and they didn't care.
I was told someone would contact me the next day, they never contacted me. I waited 5 days they never contacted me. After 5 days, I contacted them and finally got to speak to someone. I was told by Rebecca Jones, property manager, we are still working on it, we don't have a resolution yet, we will know something tomorrow and I will call you. Well, Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency disappoints again with yet another run around, no contact was made.
I was verbally assaulted by their employee and they can't even contact me. Fast forward 6 days- they have removed Ocean Reef 9B2 from their website. Is this coincidence? Part 1 Blue Water Realty, Emerald Isle, NC. I have more to share-specifics regarding their COVID19 sanitation procedures and what a customer can actually expect in real time when staying at a Blue Water Realty, Blue Water Vacation Rental Agency property.

Do not rent from this company! Ever! We rented a beach front cottage for the week of Thanksgiving. On the night of our arrival, the keyless lock would not work. After searching through all the emails we had to call the reservation line to get an emergency maintenance contact number. When we called him, none of his codes worked either. He told us we had to drive to the bottom of the island to meet him to get a physical key. Getting to the house, we were frustrated to find that the physical key did not work either.
A little over an hour later the maintenance person actually arrived at the house and still could not get in. He ended up having to crow bar the door open to get us in on our first night, breaking the door threshold completely. Upon entering the house was run down, but big enough for our needs. The significant amount of dead cockroaches should have been a sign. Let's be clear, this company has no inspections and no quality control that we observed.
In house that sleeps 12, we had 5 forks and 6 spoons. The oven never worked right (Thanks Bluewater for the half cooked turkey!). Despite all this we were enjoying our week until Thanksgiving day when the septic tank overflowed and backed up into the house. No one answered the calls until Friday. And then they couldn't get it pumped until Saturday!
While the beach and view were great, Bluewater can take zero credit for that. This sounds like a comedy show, but best believe every bit of it is true. They have yet to respond to our complain letter let alone offer any consideration or compensation. Shame on you Bluewater, or is it Brownwater? I think brownwater sounds more appropriate to what they delivered us. If you don't even want to try, then close your business. #BluewaterNCcriminals #BrownwaterNC #Brownnotbluewaternc

Rented a home in Emerald Isle from Bluewater the last week in October and we dealt with a number of issues. We got there after check-in time and the housekeeping staff was still working (i totally understand with covid and all) but when i called Bluewater to verify that there wasn't someone strange in the house who shouldn't be or a mix up i was told that housekeeping already checked off that they were done cleaning (they weren't) and that an inspection was done and complete (it wasn't).
We told the cleaning staff not to rush out - they did without leaving us a welcome pack/instructions for anything or enough blankets (they told us they would be back with them later). That night I ran out and got food to cook on the grill since we were exhausted but when we tried to turn the grill on there was no gas at all. This was one of the things that was supposed to be checked with the inspection.
We ended up having to run out to get takeout last minute since we had no grill to cook on. They did come and fill the tank the next day for us. We also got some blankets delivered but only 2 thin blankets for a 4 bedroom house on a week when the weather was a bit chilly. Definitely not enough. Another thing i noticed when i was looking through the cabinets that first night was that there was a roach motel in the cupboard.never a good sign.
I ignored it thinking it was probably there for a past problem. I was wrong. I noticed roaches (and not the brown outside NC kind) the first morning we were there and pretty much every morning after that. I am pretty grossed out by them and probably spent about $150 on food that went to waste because i didn't want to cook in the kitchen where there were bugs.
I did call Bluewater an they did send out an exterminator but i still was greeted by a bug the next day after the spraying. At that point we decided to go home early and lose out on the last 2 days of our vacation. i have called Bluewater multiple times about all the issues. Each time i call they take notes and tell me that someone will get back to me to possibly refund the days that we lost - almost 2 weeks later I'm still waiting.
I also emailed. I will never rent from this company again. We are experienced house renters (about 4 times a year) and this was the worst experience we've had yet. I've had much better luck through VRBO.

We have rented from Bluewater for years but our recent rental may be our last. Obviously we expected utmost cleanliness given the pandemic. While the house seemed superficially cleaner than we usually find beach rentals, we were shocked to have come home with head lice. Since our kids haven't been in physical contact with anyone in months - and they are teenagers! - it's impossible for it to have come from any place other than this house (Hunt for the Best).
Since only 1 kid was affected we believe it was the bedspreads. We would have everything in the bed to have been thoroughly cleaned. We now question the thoroughness of all their cleaning. We had several discussions with Bluewater about this and they said it was not their fault. This is really not the response I would expect in the COVID era. Hugely disappointed. I will say that they were responsive to the few issues we raised during our visit (malfunctioning appliances and worn out pots).

Absolute criminals. Everyone else we have dealt with has understood the times we are in with the pandemic. This company just wants to take advantage of it. Our state quarantines you if you travel to NC for 14 days. I have 4 kids and an elderly mother who I don't want to risk their life going down nor can I spend 14 more days in quarantine when I get back. They don't really care and just take your money anyways

We loved Over By The Sea! It has unobstructed views of the sound as well as ocean views between beachfront houses. Beach access is close by, one block on the street, one block over a due trail, and you are at the beach access. And the house has a beach cart, umbrellas, chair, beach toys - everything we needed for the beach! Inside it's decorated really nicely - everything felt very new and clean!
The listing says 2 bed rooms, but it's really 3 - just the 3rd room doesn't have a closet so they can't call it a bed room. Also be aware that the laundry is below the house on the ground level, so you need to be able to navigate a flight of stairs while carrying a laundry basket, or just skip doing laundry for the week. Overall, we really enjoyed our time there.

We called about a maintenance issue (broken bed frame) yesterday that we had notified them about in February when we toured the home. Customer service did not call us back. We had to call them again today and they had no plan to fix it and no timeframe for it to be corrected. We also had to call about the trash as it hadn't been taken as per the rules of the house.
We have a big family staying in this gorgeous, expensive house right on the beach (Chateau of the Isle). An entire bedroom is unusable. This is completely unacceptable. ETA They purchased and had delivered a new bed frame on Wednesday. We had a broken bed for 3 of 4 nights.

We rented Summerwinds 233. Condo was clean, well furnished and decorated. Owners clearly wanted guests to feel at home and had everything covered from cookware/utensils, games, hairdryers, and even a gift bucket with snacks, manicure set, hand soap/sanitizer, sunscreen, keychain, and great zippered Beach bag for storing sunscreen, etc. I have rented several condos in the past from Atlantic Beach to Hilton Head and this was by far the nicest unit. Wonderful view of ocean and pool and on end of complex so parking was easier. Highly recommend both this unit and Summerwinds for both families and couples.

This was our second year at Cross Pointe. The location to amenities is ideal and the beachfront has not been overly crowded even though there is a neighborhood access very near. There is a feel of privacy without seclusion. The deck provides plenty of space for anyone who does not take to the sand! We enjoy the open concept of the kitchen and family room as that is where most of our time is spent.
With two tables and the bar, 20 people can easily enjoy dinner without being too far separated. There is plenty of bed space (for at least 13-14) with room for air mattresses. This is definitely a place we hope to continue to rent! The Downs Family May 2020

I have some of the fondest family memories at the beach. My husband and I are working to build our little ones memory bank - filled with sun and sand as a family. We have vacationed at a few rental homes in Atlantic Beach as a family and they have been so wonderful. You couldn't put a price or a star rating on those memories that we will treasure forever.

--REEF POINTS WARDROOM--This new looking & new feeling condo is perfect. The owner & builder spent the extra time & money to ensure comfort! The shower is very large & it is great to have 2 bathrooms. It is especially nice that one bathroom has a tub & the other does not. The ocean views are seen from the living room, kitchen, balcony & one of the bedrooms!
The appliances, TVs & washer/dryer are fantastic! Walking distance to beach, restaurants, bars, & shopping. In a safe area very close to police station & quick bridge access to Morehead City.

Unscrupulous business. I booked 7 months ago. They waited until 2 weeks before our trip to tell us the unit is unavailable. The only units they offered as replacements were far inferior, but they said I had to hurry up and pick one because they were going fast. I think they realized inventory is low and cancelled my trip because we received a discount for booking early.

We had a terrible experience last summer and I would never rent from this company again. Office staff was totally unhelpful, would not return calls about a problem with the unit. We drove to the office and no one would help us. Finally we talked to condo owners at our building, got contact info for the management company, and got a resolution which ended up costing us money. But it saved our vacation.just posting this now because I'm looking for beach rentals and will not be considering Bluewater.

This was the first time that we stayed at Emerald Isle. We stayed at Peeble Beach Condos Bldg F, Room 210. The booking was easy and the pick up of keys was efficient. The Positives- Great location and easy to get to- minimal traffic and close to other things in the area. There are two well maintained outdoor pools Nice beach access for renters. Plenty of parking although none is assigned to a condo so the people staying close to the beachfront often had a hard time parking near there condo because people from further buildings had driven down to go to the beach.
We know this because the other half of our family was in Bldg A. There is a great walking/biking trail right outside of this area that we used each morning. Well maintained by the Island. Cons- We paid about $1200 for a single bedroom non beachront place and it is in rough condition. I have rented beach places for 20+ years and know that renters can be rough- but this place needs to be painted and some upgrades due.
Bathroom was in rough condition. Needs paint, ceiling damaged and vent was long past due to be cleaned. The queen mattress was 100% worn out. The plywood between the bed and box spring may have helped a while ago, but not now. There is obvious repairs from water damage to the ceilings that should really be fixed well. The AC unit worked but it is very loud.
The evaporator fan in the closet in the condo got louder as the week went on. No icemaker or ice trays- Which is not a huge deal if you know beforehand. The sliding screen door to the balcony was being repaired by a guy when we got there and he was unable to fix. We didn't see him again but it was not a big deal. We just didn't use that side of the door to the balcony.
There is a very small exercise room at the indoor pool area. However, the ac is either broken or there isn't any. There were a few dehumidifiers but the door was left open to the indoor pool area. I walked outside but that room would be unbearable if we had used it. I would go back to this company and this location but I would want more information and know the condition prior to paying that amount again.

Beached is a wonderful property. We loved how each level had its own a/c. The kitchen was fully equipped, the house is beautiful and spacious. The Basement was perfect for the children and the elevator was just right for my grandfather. Our family vacation was Ahhh-mazing and we have made wonderful memories. Emerald isle is beautiful, we will definitely return! Bluewater was awesome at working with my family.
Everything was smooth! Only suggestion would be to upgrade with website to allow clients to pay on their own for the layaway plan. Thank you Bluewater and Beached for an amazing family vacation!
