The weeds are 5 1/2 feet tall around the building dry grass very scary and I'm concerned for my own safety I've called inner West properties and they refused to do anything they haven't done anything for 2 1/2 years around here at least as far as maintaining the grounds. I give them one star

I lived at 11714 e burnside under interwest prop. management. i moved into a nightmare. they left a brand new door uninstalled sitting in my basement. meanwhile the front door had a hole the size of a battle ram in it. the flooring was roted and had holes in it. the electrical wiring was so bad that it electacuted me and burnt my surge protector and left melted plastic on the heater. the heating in front room didnt work properly and made clicking noises all year round. the maintenance employees would come in say theyd be back to fix things and didnt. they even went so far as to break things themselves. the last straw for me was a 2x14 inch crack in the living room wall that made it more then obvious that the building has severe foundation problems. you can hear the walls creak as they shift. there is mold in the ceilings and the flooring in the basement has a spot that shows and proves that the cement under the building is broken and coming up. my name is clarissa vega 5037024235

RUN; don't walk; RUN from INTERWEST! They will never take your safety seriously and will install or approve faulty safety equipment without a second thought. After reporting our concerns over them plastering over a fireplace with a crack in it, I had no choice but to call code enforcement. Their answer? Within 48 hours we received a notice of threat of eviction because we were "noncompliant with management." They also even stated that I was harassing people and cussing them out and yelling at them.

I actually have over 20 minutes worth of video at this point where I do absolutely no such thing, but the owner does call me racist just for trying to ensure my family's safety! Now what kind of answer is that!? Who does that!? Who says that someone is racist for trying to make sure they don't die of carbon monoxide poisoning or fire in the middle of the night?

Someone who doesn't have a good answer for all of the illegal things they've been doing. That's who. I see in previous responses to tenants who had issues, the president, Robert, loves to say that everybody should communicate thoroughly. Let me tell you what happens when you "communicate thoroughly". They accuse you of harassing their employees! FoUr emails sent in one afternoon.

That was considered to be harassment for them even though there was a response in the middle of that from them which actually prompted the additional emails. Fascinatingly awful company. Horrible people horrible values. Run! ESPECIALLY from the Georgia Manor

This company doesn't do their final accounting in a timely manner. You can expect lots of surprise charges after your move out and even after your deposit is supposedly accounted and refunded. They are well within their legal rights in the way they operate, but that doesn't mean they won't screw you. Rent their properties as a last resort.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical when our landlord switched our property over to InterWest; the online reviews made me nervous about what we were getting into. However, we had nothing but pleasant experiences with InterWest! They responded to inquiries and maintenance requests in a timely manner, they were communicative, pro-active, and fair. We followed their cleaning checklist and had an easy move out experience. We even got our full deposit back after a 6.5 year stay. Would definitely recommend them!

We rented from them for 3 years. We loved our beautiful rental. If anything needed to be fixed they sent someone right away. They weatherized when needed and they kept our home safe and were always friendly and helpful. Only reason we left was cause we bought our first home!

Seems like a scam. Myself, my roommate, and our two cosigners paid a total of $218 in application fees on 4/10/21 for a listing on 4914 Oberlin St. in Portland, OR. On 4/14/21 we were sent emails saying "I am sorry but this unit has been rented." They have the listing still up and marked as available on a number of websites, and have since been updating it daily. I have tried to call their office for clarification and there is no way to speak to a real person or leave a voicemail. Do not try to rent from this company.

My husband and I have been long time renters with Interwest. Where you read the reviews are bad is most likely a scorned or bitter past resident. They've always been attentive and responsive to our needs especially when it comes to renewal time. Recommend this company to all future renters and owners

Slumlord. Plain and simple. This property management company has been a nightmare to deal with. From when I was literally rushed through my lease agreement because the last had to be somewhere and it was my duty to read the lease after signing it because she didn't have time and she was saying "I'm sure you know all about this here" or "this is simple and self explanatory".

They have major flaws in their accounting practices; money orders recieved and endorsed and not credited to my account, moved in July sent me a gas bill for 10 days of service for $51, I called the gas company and had them back bill me from the date of move in, Interwest is still demanding the $51 even though I pointed out that $51 is for the gas service from April through and of July. and I already paid it.

Why am I responsible for the gas prior to moving in? (I'm not, ORS 90.532 violation), my work orders for a fridge that never worked upon moving in took weeks to address; 23 days with no working fridge! My complaint about the windows not meeting City codes (sill less than 24" from floor and outside window being more than 72" from the ground) were ignored.

Upon move out I did a walk through with an employee who said everything looked great! I took a video and numerous pictures I was charged over my deposit of $1800; $700 for painting (I lived there 3 months and the unit was painted upon move out, hundreds of dollars for cleaning and replacement repairs (they have refused to tell me what needed to be replaced or repaired or cleaned, probably because it is a big lie and a way for them to try and make $$. Trying to charge me for the fridge that was brand new and took almost a month to get.

I had to request maintenance on my sink 3 times, as it was not installed properly and the garbage disposal just fell off one day, the edges of the sink were not caulked causing water to leak under the sink area. They posted over 5 notices on my door for 24 hour inspection and never showed up for a single one of them. 3 months in a 312 square foot apartment at $950 a month plus a $1800 deposit and the want another $3800 on top of that.

It works out to about $2500 a month! I'm a pretty simple person with a 6 year old girl. We didn't do much in those 3 months, I never even had anyone over for dinner! I can't even explain how unclassy and unprofessional this company is. Evicted me over $314 of rent they said they never recieved. I have copies of the money order and it was stamped and deposited by their company after it was recieved.

Money order copy requests take a long time to get and I did make the mistake of getting a bad bad lawyer, which cost me and forced me to move; also really glad I did agree to move as I did not want anything to do with this company. I would avoid this place at all costs because it will cost you. A lot of time in court and in stress dealing with their malfunctioning company.

Inter-west was such a joy to work with. They had the place ready to move it. When maintenance needed fixed, they were there within 24-48 hours. They fixed any problem without questions asked and were always friendly to deal with. After move out, we cleaned the place and got more than half our deposit back. We would and do daily, recommend them to anyone. Thank you Inter-West.

I rented through Interwest for 6 years. My experience was pretty good. Maintenance were on top of any requests and the office seemed friendly and easy to work with. My only complaint is the constant rent increases every year (which may or may not be through them, but by the owner's doing) and I was a little disappointed in the Deposits I received back.

Basically it was a 35% return. They will charge you for every little item.even though the condition was already like that when we first moved in.and also 6years of normal wear and tear did not seem to matter. So don't get your hopes up of getting any "refundable" deposits back. Aside of that, they were a decent outfit to rent from.

Impossible to ever reach the office. (And I do mean ever. In the last decade I rented from them they were never available. Not once was I able to get a hold of someone in the office.). Tacked on ridiculous fees and made paying rent much, much more difficult then they needed to. Charged the tenants extra fees and fines because of the office's errors and mistakes. Raised the rent significantly and often.

They seem to expect the renter keep office hours from their homes and await the office's convenience, rather then Interwest having their own office hours. Worse management company I've ever rented through.

I can't go into details or I'm confident that I'll be evicted. But know this. They've changed management to a group of lovely people whom only think you of as a community and Not a human being : Welcome to the new norm for Inter-west. more profits, even more profit, and more PROFIT$$!

InterWest is a good rental company to rent with. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and company. Being a returning resident of 12-15 years and not having to go through hoops and stress on trying to find the right home for me and my children. It was safe, up keep and clean properties, family oriented and the management that cares about there tenants.

You were willing to work with me when times were not going so good. If maintenance was needed or complaints made things were handled in a professional manner. I just want to thank you for everything and willing to work your tenants.

InterWest Properties has comically terrible reviews. I'll admit that I was nervous at first as I expected some of the same hardships that previous tenants suffered. That being said, don't let these bad reviews scare you. InterWest was nothing but prompt and understanding. No one will enter your apartment without you knowing. I received a one week notice around the time of the 6-month maintence visit.

That is plenty of time to change your schedule if need be. Furthermore, that visit was fast and easy. The maintence man was polite and friendly. There is also mention of mean office ladies. This is another scenario that never popped up for me. I always paid rent in-person and I enjoyed chatting and saying hello to the women in the office. As for mysterious fees and surprise water bills, no such thing.

At the end of my residence, the move-out process was seamless. The office was accomodating and understanding. I received an extremely fair amount of my security deposit in a very timely manner. Your living experience is what you make that. All this said, I had a very enjoyable experience with this rental agency. I would recommend. Lastly, thank you again InterWest Properties for being kind and understanding.

It's no wonder this management only has 2 stars. This is by FAR the WORST company I have ever had to deal with. I found the customer service level to be deplorable on every level. They never returned our calls, denied my application over a misunderstanding, then LIED about it. My fiance and I thought we had found our perfect home until we had to deal with these people. I will be informing friends and family about our experience with InterWest Properties and we will no longer work with them in the future.

Online payments are nice. But don't even bother cleaning the place upon move out. They will still charge for their vendor to go out and "clean". Scrubbed the walls just like they asked to on the move out list. Still got charged. Left trash can at curb with a few things the garbage truck could easily pick up. Got charged $75. Batteries and most of the lightbulbs in the house died a month into the lease because they were replaced with the cheapest possible. Basically, they're gonna try to scrape every last dollar out of you.

Horrible, horrible company. Completely non-responsive. Furnace has been out since Saturday and still no repair. This is Tuesday and have been told that it will be tomorrow, maybe. One oil tech on staff and they don't to pay him overtime. Fact. They're every negative stereotype of a property management company you can imagine.

This is my second time renting a home from Interwest. I couldn't be a happier tenant. Both times I moved into clean, well maintained homes. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Scheduled maintenance is always on time, I receive proper notification for everything and reminders via email for any visits or payment. It's never been an issue getting permission to personalize my space with paint or fixtures. I've had nothing but pleasant and reasonable interactions with Interwest Properties, from the application process to the end of a rental agreement. They take care of their properties and their tenants, that's a rare combination. I won't rent from another company.

We hired Interwest Properties about five years ago to manage a rental home that we own. When we hired them, we were told they would inspect the inside of the property every six months. We were lucky if they came every two years to inspect the inside of the house. When they did come and inspect the inside of the house, an Interwest employee would always check off that the furnace was fine, when, in fact, it was leaking water and there was obviously rust on the furnace.

We only found out about this when we had to replace the air conditioner and the technician looked at the furnace and told us about it. We had to replace the furnace, partly because of its age and partly because it had rusted away and we had not been told about this by Interwest Properties. About the only thing Interwest did on a regular basis was a "curbside inspection", which was not cheap. Also, the roof on the house and garage have moss that grows on it and I always had to ask Interwest to treat the moss.

They never noticed it during the curbside inspections that they did. We have decided to manage the property ourselves, which we never wanted to do, but we can no longer trust Interwest to look after our investment. The ladies who work in the office were always very nice and helpful, but overall not a good company at all. P.S. This is in response to Bobby's response to my review. Interwest Properties charged us $191.00 for the terrible job of trimming our trees, which we did not ask them to do. When I asked for that money back I was told they would not refund the money.

Bob thinks he can ignore people dodge meetings ignore reviews bottom line people I wrote down everything damaged by the previous tenant and they charged me $2400 for it and wouldn't give me a meeting bob is a slumlord and he and his wife kim are not stand up people and they have no class to even protect their reputation I told him stealing from me would cost him future business so people of Portland ask yourself before you move in if you want to pay thousands to remodel a dump when you move out. I've found the folks at InterWest to be a truly rare species: professional, compassionate, and a pleasure to work with. We purchased a rental property that was being managed by them, so we "inherited" them as the rental management company for our new house. From the get-go, they knew it was our intention to move into the house ourselves (thereby ending their services), yet they agreed to continue managing the home for the short but very time-consuming period between our purchase and the end of our tenants' lease (about two months). Coordinating communications between a new owner, the previous owner, and the tenants was no small feat, but they did so efficiently and with great cheer.

As a not-so-long-ago renter myself, I especially appreciated their compassion and gentle advocacy for everyone at the table: owners and tenants alike. From Kim and Bob on down, InterWest clearly takes pride in trying to do the right thing by and for their clients. I would work with them again in a flash.

WARNING: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY AND IF I WERE YOU I WOULD NOT USE THEM TO "TAKE CARE" of your property! We rented from this company for two years and it was honestly one of the most awful experiences I have ever had. They are EXTREMELY unprofessional and clearly lack a proper protocol. When we moved in we were given a unit with issues such as tack strips showing, blatant holes in the walls never covered up from previous tenants, and various outdoor items left on the back patio as well as a BROKEN dryer that they never told us about!

So did they let the owner of the property know that they were renting the unit out with multiple things wrong? The washer and dryer broke four different times throughout our stay there and nearly all of their maintenance work is outsourced so it always took over a week to get fixed! On top of that they would fix something poorly and would have to call again and wait again to have someone come do the same thing!

A real inconvenience and they could not have cared less. On top of that for all maintenance re quests we had CLEAR instructions that no one is to enter the unit without our permission first and someone being there to see the person in our place. I came home early one day with my child to find that someone from interwest had let themselves in WITHOUT calling me or my husband to ask if they could or even to let us know they had received the electronic maintenance request!

This company is beyond unprofessional and was by far the worst rental experience myself or my husband have ever had. If I were a property owner looking for a prop. management company I would NEVER use them and I would NEVER rent a property from them again! They do not even schedule to have someone do a walkthrough with you at the end of the lease and did not even ask for my forwarding address until I emailed them, after they requested I leave the unit unlocked and keys on the counter.so lazy! Thank god we bought a house and got out of there! AWFUL COMPANY, BAD SERVICE!

I would live in my car before I ever rented from Interwest again. It was impossible to get any maintenance done. Called once because my fridge and A.C were both not working and someone showed up 10 minutes late to rekey my locks.what? Needless to say we had to live without a fridge for 5 days before we got a replacement and NEVER got the a.c fixed. Called maintenance 3 times and all 3 times he sent someone over to do something completely different than what I called for and of they did "fix it" it wasn't fixed properly.

Open the bathroom cupboard and it fell off its hinge because it was GLUED on it. Why not use screws interwest? Roof leaked.never fixed. Furnace didn't work.never fixed. I would recommend not even looking at a property thru interwest because they are the WORST property management company. Had to give one star cause it won't let me give zero.

This has been such a terrible experience. we moved into a property that was a good deal, which meant we knew there were going to be things wrong with it. we have tons of dry rot that they have no desire to address, we have ants that they wont take care of, a drain that doesnt stay plugged and many other issues. some of which, thankfully they have addressed. maintenance is impossible to get a hold of and when we do they arent friendly. we have had the guilt trip played on us more than once. we had a sick dog and 2 sick young children, plus a broken gutter which was letting water in our house. so we though MOLD. had a mold test and they found and had to replace a small area. but maintenance told us what we were costing the owner and how it was all so minuscule.

I wrote to the top, and he had been receiving all the emails also and didnt seem to think anything of it. they are so rude and unprofessional. probably been the worst experience. no one is friendly if you can even get a hold of someone. i would never work with them, or rent from them again.

It's hard to find a property manager. We interviewed a few and went with Interwest. There was no problem as long as there were no problems with the property. As soon as some attention or work was needed I had difficulty. I wouldn't get calls back, I would get messages that made no sense, emails went unanswered, and the tone of replies, when I did get replies, was snotty and sharp.

I ended up doing a lot of work, making calls and emails, arranging repairs, that they should have done. I had a lot of trouble communicating with Bruce, I felt he was the most condescending and resistant to working collaboratively. Steve just didn't respond to me when I asked questions. Samantha was the most helpful in the office. I'm glad the house is selling and we don't need the service anymore.

I read the owner comment, wrote a response but then deleted it. Suffice to say that they have their viewpoint, I have mine, we disagree. The owner emailed me privately taking responsibility, going so far as to call a staff member "a grumpy old man." His email and what he posted here are quite different. That's just how we are going to have to leave it. After 6 years and the thousands of dollars I paid them, my experience wasn't great and isn't worth more of my time to explain or defend.
