Hobbs realty far exceeded all our expectations this week with a fabulous 5 bedroom Holden Beach property rental. Property was immaculate, responsiveness of Hobbs was amazing, a broken toilet was fixed ASAP, absolutely perfect vacation experience.

Had a wonderful and relaxing week on Holden Beach thanks to Hobbs Realty. We have been to Holden Beach probably 10 times and this was by far the best trip ever! I would not trust any other Realty company but Hobbs. They have the best properties on Holden to pick from and they are always top notch. We leave in the morning and hate to see it all end. What a magical time!

We paid over $3600 for a house on Holden beach. We arrived to a bag of linens on the porch that we had to pay extra for. We had to make up our own beds. We later discovered that the following items were not provided: toilet paper, trash bags, hair dryer, iron, dishwasher pods, dish soap, shower soap, laundry soap, salt, pepper, coffee. The house is lovely but there are NO amenities. Be prepared to bring everything you need to function for your vacation. So disappointed

We decided last minute to take a trip to Holden. Rented an ocean front home at 687 OBW from Hobbs realty on their website Thursday march 31 for the week. Saturday afternoon, April 2, four hours into our five hour drive, Amanda from Hobbs calls me to inform me there is beach restoration going on and it "might impact" your beach access. I asked her what meant.

She explained Holden beach was being restored and there would be bulldozers at work and the strip of beach in front of the ocean front home we rented "might" be closed. I told her this was not acceptable. That I had paid for an oceanfront home to be in the ocean front. She very politely told me there was nothing she could do, that Hobbs didn't know where the restoration was, that city hall didn't return their calls, etc.

I asked to transfer my reservation, 36 hours old at this stage, and she said this was not possible. She could not explain why. She said they were working to find an alternative beach access for us. I told her I select and paid an oceanfront home so the walk to the beach for my 86 yr old grandmother and 75 yr old husband would be able to get to the beach easily.

She said she would have to check with someone. We went ahead and checked in at 4pm. Came to house. Maids were working. Said they had just been told about the cleaning. Waited an hour and a half, finally got in to find beds not maid and no sheets in sight. Called Hobbs after hour line. Got a call back. Was told there "should be a bag of linens somewhere outside the house.

Found in the car port and made up the beds myself so the promise of a stress free checkin was not accurate. It is now Monday morning. Our beach is blocked. Left a message this morning. No response yet So my belief is, the owner got their $3000+ rent and Hobbs got their money and I end up feeling scammed. There is NO WAY Hobbs should have rented this home.

A phone call from them on Friday could have solved this issue. We could have selected a different home, one not impacted by this restoration. In April, they just aren't that busy. I am very disappointed.

I normally do not leave reviews but with 20 years in the vacation rental business Hobbs Reality is the worst customer service I have encountered. I can't speak to Hobbs as a tenant but my experience as a homeowner renting our property was a disaster from the start. Bought a home on Holden a year ago and we inherited Hobbs as the management company.

They never initiated contact and it took 3 weeks get a call back; when they did finally reach out to us we were accused of not honoring prior rentals which come to find out they had dropped the ball and never informed us about at closing. Instead of simply apologizing for their mistake they became very arrogant towards us which eventually led us to parts ways before we even had a single rental with them. Fortunately there are some great options in this area and we have been using another local management company for a year with excellent service.

Life time of good family at the beach, going to Cherry Grove S.C. every summer as kids were the best time! Working at Hobbs at Holden Beach was a honor, building a family business @ hosting the world/ so many blessing, speical place!.

Holden Beach is a quiet, beautiful setting for a family holiday. It's east / west orientation insures glorious sun rises and sun sets over the ocean. The rental properties used to be rustic, now they, and their prices, are up-market. My winter week at the beach this year was, unfortunately, marred by the Hobbs Realty. I selected a house from their list that was advertised as non-smoking (Southern Comfort, 695 Ocean Blvd. West).

When I arrived at the property, the cigarette odor was overwhelming. I telephoned Hobbs Realty three times the day I arrived, each time leaving a message on an answering service that promised an immediate response. I also emailed Hobbs and telephoned the next day, in the expectation that I could be relocated. Despite safety concerns, I left the doors and windows of house open. Sleeping was problematic.

I received no response until late morning on the forth day of my stay. I have two complaints. 1. Hobbs should check the properties that they rent. The house is certainly no longer a smoke-free residence. I should have been informed and either offered alternative accommodation or a refund. 2. Hobbs should have acknowledged my complaint in a timely manner. They did not. When Hobbs finally responded, four days into the seven-day rental, the only solution that was offered were DampRid Moisture Absorbers.

This is the first time we've rented from Hobbs and the first time we've stayed in this house. We've had a great experience with Hobbs and the house is great! It is nice and roomy with wide open spaces. The bedrooms are very nice sizes, not cramped. All 3 bathrooms are big and nicely done. The kitchen is small but there's no other way it could have been done. We will be back!

I wanted to take the time to leave a review because I know many people are looking to book vacations for 2022 right now. Please learn from our horrible experience! The worst vacation we have ever had. Can you even call it a vacation if they refuse to let you in to the beach house you paid almost $9000 for? We never set foot in the house and received very little communication from the Town of Holden Beach or Hobbs Realty.

There was an expected storm and so the mayor closed the bridge days in advance. We lost 3 beautiful days at the start of our week and we're left stranded nearby, hoping they would let us check in. After the storm passed, the bridge reopened and Hobbs Realty still refused to let us check in so we lost the last 2 beautiful day's What a terrible, heartbreaking loss during a very difficult year.

Our A/C shut down temporarily. We called after hours. Hobbs responded quickly and had a HVAC service person out quickly. Very impressive!

Hobbs is a fine rental company and I genuinely do not understand why there are so many complaints here on Yelp. Granted, it was my first time coming to Holden Beach, but other members of my family have been coming here for 20 years at mostly booking with Hobbs. The check in process was smooth. Since we were staying in a private and gated region of the beach, we were given a passcode to enter.

The home was protected with Yale locks as well. Upon arrival, we saw some basic welcome material provided by Hobbs. This included an outline of local businesses/attractions, their phone number, as well as some marketing material. I never called Hobbs so I don't have much to say about their customer service. The housekeeping was great, beds were made, and everything was clean.

We stayed at Big Deal (1207) at it had a large and very modern kitchen, direct ocean access, lovely views, plenty of rooms with bathroom access, and it was an overall great house. No pool though. Sure, this is quite an expensive rental but it is great for larger families who want to focus on going to the beach and not the pool. You won't have to worry about finding a public access pier. I did not interact with anyone from Hobbs personally, but it was a decent experience.

House is amazing, pool is nice, great location. I'd have to say the only complaint we have is the fridge and freezer. It has an extremely strong odor of fish. So strong we aren't putting food or drink in it because of fear it will smell like fish. It was clean when we arrived except for the odor. Had to buy odor absorbent for put in to help but it still smells really strong.

Pleasantly surprised the pool is open! Great place and very comfortable! Small improvements would include more hangers in the closet, better coffee maker, all TV remotes with right TVs with cables working and more medium size glasses. Really love the layout and plenty of nice rocking chairs and outdoor furniture to enjoy the view and breeze.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! Devoid of compassion or any concept of customer service! We rented a house and were not allowed to use it because of the "threat" of hurricane even though we have friends who drove down to their house that week. We tried to reschedule because we were not interested in a refund but rather wanted the vacation time as a family during this awful year.

We were told there is no way to substitute a week for any house at any time. There was not even a minimal of customer service to attempt to work with us. We will never use this Realty again. Ever!

We rented a beach house from Hobbs for the week of August 1-8. A hurricane came through which caused the island to be shut down to visitors for part of the week. We did not take out trip insurance because we felt the price was too high. We were never allowed to step foot into the beach house. We were not refunded one cent on the rental, cleaning fees, taxes, etc.

We were not offered a discount on a future stay or an alternative week to come. We were offered nothing. While they were polite, they were completely unsympathetic to the fact that they have over $6,000 of our hard-earned money, and we got absolutely nothing in return. They could have avoided this review and possibly even gotten my future business with literally ANY offer to acknowledge the grief my family has experienced over losing our one vacation of the year.

I don't understand why we can't share the burden of this loss instead of my family shouldering the entire thing. Do NOT recommend. PS. I learned after the fact that the island shuts down any time winds are above 45 mph, so if you can't afford trip insurance, I would not book for this beach at all.

Run far away from Holden Beach! Anywhere else at all would be better than this town. Hobbs Realty will rob you of thousands and not let you into your beach house. Your family will lose out on their time off work, drive hours to get there, and although you can see the beautiful house you should be staying in, they will refuse to let you in.

We called Hobbs Realty multiple times over 2 days and they didn't answer or return messages. When they finally answered they were rude on the phone and gave us information contradictory to their website. We decided to visit an entirely different beach because we didn't want to put our vacation in their hands. Virus or not - you need to make sure you have people answering the phones!

During these times it's awful for you to not to give full refunds on beach house rentals. It's not the customers fault the local government shut down all short term rentals.

We've been staying in the Brunswick Islands for over 30 years. Hobbs is the best on Holden Beach. They go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The little extras, like the welcome basket, are much appreciated.

Very disappointed in Hobbs Realty. In the aftermath of Hurricane Florence while the Governor was urging people NOT to travel to NC, while the flood waters were still rising, while the county was saying NOT to get on the roads, Hobbs was encouraging us to come anyway. Is money more important than the well-being of your customers Hobbs? To add insult to injury the travel insurance that we paid extra for was used to pocket the thousands of dollars we paid for a ruined family vacation. Shameful.

Our vacation was top-notch! The house was very well appointed, beautifully decorated, and the views from every room were stunning! It was a very short walk to the beach, the pool was relaxing and the space under the house was perfect for grilling and enjoying the breeze with family and friends. Recently rented Driggers, 829 OBW. Extremely disappointed in the house and Hobbs. We were without A/C for 4 days. On the 3rd day, repairman decided it was FROZE, and brought 4 window units which didn't cool off till the next day. Then on the 4th day, they fixed it. We spent 2 days with repairmen in the house. Then on the 6th day, another repairman shows up to give the owner an estimate to replace the A/C! Hobbs quality person was there when we checked in (paid $100 to check in early) and the temp in the house was 79*, with the thermostat set on 68*.

He didn't see a problem! Hobbs answer was to refund me $250, against my total expenditure of over $3000! I responded by phone that I was not satisfied with the offer, and asked for a review. No call back. I then wrote an email, and Hobbs responded with that's all the owner would authorize. 40 years of coming to HB and this is the first time I left feeling dissatisfied!

Our family has been vacationing at Holden Beach for 30 years and renting with Hobb's. This year we rented Blue Heron for a week for a cost of $11,500. We arrived and the home was not clean and there were not enough dishes for the amount of people. We contacted Hobb's and they brought new dishes which we then had to spend our time washing.

They cleaned a few of the bathrooms; however, not all of the indoor showers and not the outdoor showers. Which were covered in dirt and bugs. There were several other issues with the home as well. We went down to discuss this issue with Hobb's directly; however, they said that they were unable to assist with anything financial and will have to discuss with the homeowner.

This is frustrating to us as they are the group that manages the cleaning. Additionally, despite having a conversation directly with them they said we still had to email them each item that we just told them about. As loyal customers we expected at the very least to be offered a refund for our cleaning fee. Instead we were told that we had to waste more of our vacation time dealing with their inability to offer us the accommodation we paid for and were promised. Very poor customer service.
