It is unfortunate that people's vacations and plans are being disrupted by the poor business practices of Beach House Rentals. The worst part is that many do not even know yet. Not paying owners for months has forced some to remove their properties. This has left dozens without the home they booked. The owners I know tried and tried to work with them.

Be aware that when you rent from this company, the vacation homeowners can back out of the contract at any time. Even though you sign a contract and pay for your rental in advance, the owners can decide not to rent you the property whenever they feel like it. We planned a trip way in advance with a whole bunch of friends for my birthday to attend the car show this June in Capitola.
My husband and I found the perfect pet friendly place since we booked early -and we were pretty excited. Other friends rented places in the area as well. A few weeks later after we paid and signed the contract the company called us and said the homeowner can't rent the house out now and they wanted to give us another place to rent. The place they offered us was not really at all what we wanted but it did have an ocean view so we decided all the other drawbacks were worth it to get the Oceanview.
So we signed a new contract and rented the new place. Fast forward another month or two and we get another call that the next place we rented is not available now because the owners now can't rent it. At this point they offered us two other places which we're not at all what we wanted and we didn't want to waste our money staying someplace we didn't even like.
We ended up having to cancel the whole trip. All of our friends had to cancel their plans. We all took time off work, arranged for childcare and pet care, had reservations for dinner and we're looking forward to all hanging out since we haven't since Covid. Beach House rentals did give us a refund but didn't offer anything else for all the hassle and trouble.
You would think that since the contract does actually state that the owner can back out at any time, that it would be for emergency purposes only, or the house not being habitable or whatever. Obviously that's not the case -so if you plan on booking with this company beware that your place could get canceled at any minute and you have no place to go on vacation. We will never rent from them again. After all why bother since you're not guaranteed a place to stay if you do.

Beach House is not an ethical company and I discourage anyone from doing business with them. I rented from them for 14 months, moved out in Oct 2020, and they still have not returned my security deposit of $5,600. There was no property damage, and they haven't claimed there was. They simply ignore my many, many requests. Dede and Misty - I hope you read this. I've given you every opportunity to do the right thing. Unfortunately my next step is legal action. WARNING - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BEACH HOUSE RENTALS!

The entire staff at Beach House Rentals are absolutely Amazing! I have been using there service for over 10 years now and never had an issue. I can't say enough good things or tell enough people about the great service we get EVERY year here, at Beach House Rentals. Booking and re-booking has always been easy. House is always ready for us. I've never had any problems. We are always welcomed back with a sweet card and bottle of wine. That alone is great GREAT customer service. Sara has always been sooo friendly and helpful.
I love everything about Beach House Rentals and CAPITOLA. I recommend to EVERYONE that asks me where I stay, to go through B.H.R. The only thing I never have liked is, leaving this serene place, Capitola. We look forward to making more memories this summer and for my daughters sweet 16 in December. I have rented from Beach House Rentals and Dede Harrington for 14 years. I drive from Dallas to spend the month of July in Capitola with my northern California family. When we first rented, my oldest grandson was 1 and he climbed the play structures at the mall and picked up rocks on the beach. Now he and his younger brother are surfers. I have rented three different houses and each time the place has been clean and fairly well furnished when we arrive.
The specific furnishings are at the discretion of the owners. When we have had any problem, from trouble turning on the television to a clogged sink, the staff at Beach House Rentals have responded promptly, no matter the time of day, even the 4th of July. All of the staff are friendly and thoughtful. Beach House Rentals exemplifies the Gold Standard.

This whole experience was awesome. Sara at the rental office was extremely helpful, answered all my questions, patiently nagged me for my paperwork and was extremely flexible with my check in and check out process. The property itself suited us just wonderfully. We loved sitting out on the deck in the early morning to listen to the ocean. Also, you can't beat the location, just steps from downtown Capitola, the beach and Capitola Warf!
When we arrived, it was clear the home was deep cleaned from top to bottom and everything was in perfect working condition. I highly recommend working with Beach House Rentals.especially if you're considering taking the dogs (2 max) along! There are no additional fees or contractual agreements just as long as Fido minds the house rules. We all are very much looking forward to the next time! Thank you to the entire staff at Beach House Rentals, keep up the amazing work. :D
