Golden Key Properties

Hello, I'm a senior citizen age 65 on a limited income and after faithfully paying my rent on time for 7 years my greedy property manager Golden Key has given me a notice to terminate my tenancy in 60 days under the grounds that the owner will be either demolishing the property or doing a major remodel. I'm under 5% rent control with the Tennant Protection Act.

I have a nice ocean view and the actual motivation is to get me out in order to raise the rent by at least $1,000 per month and render me homeless. illegally circumventing the TPA annual 5% rent control increase limit. No other tenant received this notice on the property and the city has no demolition or building permits for this property on file. It's pure fraud and ruthless greed.

Now that Covid eviction limits are easing landlords are trying to force even the normal rent paying tenants into homelessness in order to jack up rents to current sky high levels. My ocean view unit on Pacific Street is definitely a target. The fastest growing group of homeless people is above the age 62 in both Orange and San Diego counties. Be aware of the complete lack of ethics of this company! 7 years of paying rent on time and this is my reward. Dishonest people

Worst experience I've had with a realtor. Talk about waste your time, The girl answering the phone didn't even know who the owner was, pathetic. Realtors what a joke now a days.

Golden Key Properties are just the best. They were efficient, caring, professional and kind. I would not hesitate to do business with them again. William is an outstanding representative for this company, his integrity goes way beyond expectations.

I needed a property management company during the pandemic. Dana already rented my property twice and both times within 30 days! I am very pleased with how she is handling everything. They are very fair with their pricing so I decided to let them fully manage the unit. So far, I have no complaints!

We rented a property for Golden key for over 7 years. We just moved last month and had called and talked to William regarding how much to pay for the first week for March. Once we were all moved they mailed me a statement and an invoice. As soon as I received I called that day and have been calling/ email for the last 2 weeks and still have not got a call back. Lots of items that I have questions about how repairs no details on how much each costed, and begining balance? As of today I still have not jear back from ANYONE.

Told me they leave their signs up long after a place has been rented, just to get people to call them. What a time waster.

Just moved into a great rental house managed by Golden Key Properties. Dana was completely professional and quick to respond during the application and move in process - everything went absolutely perfect despite the limitations imposed by COVID and social distancing. The house is in excellent shape and the whole process was great from start to finish. We are very happy in our new home thanks to Dana and Golden Key Properties!

While each experience is truly unique to the individual, and you may read less than enthusiastic experiences, I can say mine with Golden Key has been EXCELLENT from the first (very prompt) exchange through to the current "little items" left from the move-in list. Moving at the holidays is NEVER fun, much less so unplanned. Dana Pruitt the PM and the rest of the team that I have interacted with so far have been nothing but attentive, responsive, helpful, cooperative and generally caring; not just for me, but I believe in their representation of their owner client.

I found the place on a Saturday, had a tour scheduled for monday, signed the lease tuesday and moved in on wednesday. Dana helped this process move very quickly and efficiently with only the typical steps to take. Since move in, they have been communicative and responsive about any repairs or issues to be resolved (given a bit of reasonable leeway over the holidays of course!) Dana has followed up timely via email and phone through the move in process on all points and is readily available/responsive.

The online payment rent payment is seamless and posts quickly. The vendors i've interacted with thus far have been friendly, clean and great. I would certainly recommend Golden Key Properties to anyone for their rental needs. While i've not been on the owner side, I can't speak to that, but from what i've experienced as a renter, I can imagine they are no-less professional and efficient.

Golden Key Properties will ensure headaches and frustration from day one. Every aspect of this business is based on capitalist predation. The owner, Ned Paterson, and the rest of the company will strong-arm you into signing your lease, yell at your wife when she calls for maintenance requests, and give you run-around after run-around instead of doing what you pay them to do. My advice is to steer-clear of Golden Key; rent from someone else that is hopefully better (and know your tenant rights)!

I was referred to Golden Key to manage my rental property when my previous manager was retiring. OMG! This company is the worst company. The personnel are not friendly or even act like they want to help you. Calls aren't returned for days. The last property manager told me she would do things "right now" and days would go by without being done.

I had a manager for a while, Adrienne, who was fabulous. She left the company and the new one was awful. The owner must be absentee and letting the company run by itself with incompetent people. I have changed to a new company. One more thing I just found out. Golden Key charged me for a home inspection and lied. The inspection was not found to have been done.

I asked for a refund of the $55.00 from both the owner, Ned Paterson and Leslie D. and didn't even received a reply to my request. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, WORST EVER! RUN BY DISHONEST PEOPLE!

Their agent was very slow to respond even though it was the first day of a listing. Makes sense though since they charge a 35$ application fee and the more people apply the more money they make. Wasted 70$ to find we were fourth in line. The ad was posted for days and reposted, I can imagine the 10th or more person putting in an application even though they had no chance. This company is scamming people.

Definitely do not recommend! I guess they arent so bad as long as you pay your rent on time and dont need anything fixed or need a reference from them. They work at their own time and convenience.

Golden Key Properties worked with us on an apartment rental. They responded very quickly to our emails. Their website allowed us to review available properties and had good pictures so we could get a feel for the property before submitting our application. Our stay at the apartment was pretty good, all the appliances were new and worked well, there was a fresh coat of paint on all the walls so the place like they has made efforts to prepare it nicely for our stay.

The outside area around the property was kept up nicely during our entire stay. All the Golden Key representatives were very helpful and responsive and we would use them again if we needed a rental unit.

I've used Golden Key twice for the same rental. The first renter they found rented our home for 8 years. The 2nd tenant they found has paid on time since they moved in a few months ago. They are very professional and easy to work with.

We recently moved into a rental home in Oceanside with Bryan Oxley as our Leasing Assistant. Bryan was very professional and attentive to our emails when we had questions about the property. He was on time at the property for viewing and kept us updated on our status as other applicants had applied for the property ahead of us. He informed us that the first applicants had decided not to move forward with the unit and asked if we would like to proceed with the credit check/paper work to get the ball rolling.

We ultimately moved into the home last week and couldn't be happier. Golden Key has listings you will not find on other sites so definitely check their website for new apartments/homes that come up. Bryan was easy to work with and the whole experience was stress free, just the way we like it. It's also nice that Golden Key manages the properties so we do not have to deal with the landlord directly (done that before, no thanks). You can also pay your rent online on Golden Keys website which is great. Great experience all around! Thanks Bryan!

We were buying a retirement home out of town and had settled on Carlsbad. We lived in the Bay area 600 miles away and wanted someone to look after the property for us. My broker put me in touch with Leslie at Golden Key properties. Leslie was both helpful and very informative about the rental market in Carlsbad and I felt confident using her and the company.

Within one week of closing the property, Leslie had already met me at the property, taken photos advised me on the value of the property and put it online. We managed to rent our home out within one week and they have been looking after it ever since. They fix any problems very quickly and are very prompt to deal with emergencies which takes all the pressure off us. Very quick to correspond and ask us about repairs. Would not hesitate to recommend Leslie and Golden Key if you are looking to rent out your property in the Carlsbad area.

Dana was awesome in helping get us into our new home! I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a new place!

I am a returning tenant of Golden Key Properties. I recently rented a unit from their company and Leslie was the agent I worked with. She was professional and helpful during both the application and move-in process. I had an item that needed attention once I moved-in and Golden Key Properties was able to take care of it in a timely manner. The property is well maintained and I am enjoying living there as one of their tenants.

Beware of this property rental "business"? When you move out they will charge you for things that were deficient on moving in. DOCUMENT AND TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING. They charged us $182 for moving an old grill on the curb before the trash company could take it. They charged us for carpet pretreatment AFTER we had the carpets cleaned professionally. We even had the house professionally cleaned at a cost of $250 so they could rent it right away but barely got half our deposit back. Renters beware!

We recently signed a lease with Golden Key. The entire process was smooth and without friction. Everything has been dealt with in a professional way. Highly recommended.

Ned is a nice person.but a bad Property Manager. He let the tenants destroy our property in San Marcos, CA. We had to invest thousands of dollars to repair the damages. We had to rent two trash bins to remove all the trash the tenants left. I think they are afraid to talk with the tenants. Stay away from this company. Rating=Negative

There's a Reason why these are month to month, I have had friends that have rented here including myself awhile back. Whenever there is work that needs to be done in these apartments such as construction, or mold clean ups, etc, golden key will tell you they will send somebody out to fix it and nobody even comes to look at anything for weeks, months.

And whenever they send a repair person the job does not get done the right way. Don't waste your time or money renting from these people or you will have a long term headache

Years ago the owner of this business mismanaged my property in so many ways, I fired them and found someone else. He let a tenant run off with expensive appliances and did not bother to help recover them, had unauthorized "contractors" perform unrequested services and tried (unsuccessfully) to get me to pay for it, and was generally a terrible obnoxious person. Run away, don't just walk away, from Golden Key.

I'm finally getting settled in my new La Costa apartment and have to mention that I have really enjoyed working with Golden Key Properties. Dana Pruitt was FANTASTIC to work with. She was detailed, provided prompt responses and really understood our particular situation. I was traveling out of the country and was able to communicate any questions regarding the lease agreement, move in details and arrange for deposit to secure the apartment.

I couldn't have done it without Dana's help! During the move in process there were a few things that needed maintenance attention. Dana clearly outlined items that needed to be addressed and within a couple days their vendor was able to resolve the issues. Having worked in hospitality and customer service for over 15 years, I truly value being heard. Golden Keys has been an AWESOME example of that. Feeling grateful for our new home!

I was going to list my home for rent with this agency until I met with some 20 something year old know it all blond trying to tell me that if I did not list my home at "her" suggest price that they were not interested in my business. Needless to say I was "Shocked". I thought to myself who is this person with very little life experience much less business experience to tell me at what price to list my home. I've been a landlord for 25 years rented dozen of homes and not once did she consider I might have a little bit more experience then her and perhaps she should have listen to the "customer" a bit more before sharing her opinion.

I guess looking back I'm not surprised as I have experienced this behavior from this millennial generation over and over. They all think they are smarter then everyone and walk around with a sense of entitlement. After about two minutes I literality walked out of her office. Obviously the owner of this company is either completely absent from their business or this person is his daughter or a complete idiot to allow such behavior from an associate.

I would highly recommend you "never" do business with this company! But of course just look at their reviews. There is another company i.e. La Costa Homes which I listed my home with. This company present themselves as real professionals and understand the value of a customer.

This is a 5 STAR team of professionals. They know what they are doing. They do their job well and carefully. On top of it all they all are incredibly gracious and helpful. Being a landlord is not my favorite job. I did my own property management for over 10 years. Finding the Golden Key team was a true blessing. I have been served well team members Leslie, Mary, Carolyn, Ned, Tom and Summer, Keep up the great service folks! There are not many companies like yours anymore these days.
