This review is on overall experience. I lost my house due to a flood, and we went to Celtic Realty for help finding an apartment. The Realtor we worked with did listen to everything we had in mind. My major issue, and why I'm giving them a 1 star review, is because of the experience we had in their office. My roommates and I needed to do our credit checks, which is a service they offer in the office.
The woman in their office who ran our scores literally shouted our scores through the office. In addition to her, my self, two roommates and the realtor we were working with, there were other people in the office. These other people did not need to know what was on my credit report, nor what was on the credit report of my roommates. However, if you want your personal information to be public knowledge, Celtic Realty is the agency for you.

Stay away from this place, especially if you have pets. When I was going around with Jack looking at apartments, I specifically said I needed a place that would be OK with cats and this comment was acknowledged. Then when I met the landlord upon moving in, he couldn't believe we had cats and considered not letting us live there -- we hadn't even been there 24 hours!
The landlord said Jack told him we never mentioned cats, and Jack told us the landlord never mentioned a no-pet policy. We worked it out, but Jack was unwilling to have my lease amended and preferred to leave the situation alone. What are they paid a fee for? When other problems came up later, you wouldn't believe the filth and abuse that came out of this realtor's mouth.

I'm not really sure who the people who wrote the bad reviews worked with at Celtic Realty, but I will definitely be using them again when I move. I worked with Eric who is totally awesome. I put in a request for what I was looking for, and since there was nothing listed at the time I was looking, Eric contacted me back via email (at my request) and explained it was too early for my time frame and to check back in a few months.
A few months later I contacted him through email, and he found 2 apartments right in the vicinity I wanted to move. He also went out of his way to accomodate me since I dont drive and couldnt get to his office for preliminary paperwork! He drove to a train station to pick me up, and then drove me back, walked me through the paperwork, gave me a folder to take with me etc.
When my husband and I came back he went through the paper work with both of us, and then drove us to the apartments to look at. He was totally patient, answered all of our questions about the apartments, the neighbors, the area. The apartment we chose lived up to exactly his description and assessment. The only reason we'd move is to make sure our oldest is in the right zone of Quincy to go to Quincy High instead of North Quincy High.
And just to be clear, we aren't a total middle class white bread family. We are both covered in tattoos and on the punk side. Where alot of renters and realtors would discriminate against us and think we were total party people or would be terrible tenants (instead of the quiet family people we actually are), Eric didn't even bat an eyelash or make us feel uncomfortable at all. He does work with another guy, who might be the person these other people are complaining about.so if you give them a shot just ask for Eric specifically.

I found that this real estate agent was extremely rude. I had expressed that I was hesitant to put out a month's rent in "good faith" BEFORE seeing the apartment. I asked what legalities were in place to protect the possible tenant from someone just walking away with their deposit if not given the apt. He responded with: "That is standard practice, that is how one goes about doing business, one places consideration in this case a one month deposit down to apply for the apartment.
Your question is vague, protect the possible tenant from what? If one is turned down for an apartment the deposit is returned in full, what is it that you do not understand?"

This is the worst real estate company to do business with ever! I dealt with a gentleman and his wife this past Sunday. My boyfriend phoned this company to make an appointment and he said the man who answered his call was very rude, loud and obnoxious. I really didn't believe him until we went to their office and boy was my boyfriend right (for the first time ever).
They were very loud and rude and unprofessional. They spoke to us like we were incompetent. Their first words to us were not hello, how are you doing? How can we help you? But rather "Do you have a job?" "What do you do for a living?' "How much do you make?" "We need to pull your credit report before we can show you the apartment". I was very stunned and offended.
We didnt want our credit to be run before seeing the apartment. What if we didn't like the apartment? That would be a hit on our credit for no reason. They could have been a bit more professional and asked those questions in a different and professional way. Mind you I have a very stable, professional job and excellent credit score. I happened to have a copy of mine with me that day.
And once they saw it they turned into very nice people, it was weird. The worst part of our experience with this company is that the realtors did not have a car! We had to drive the realtor to the apartment we needed to see and drive him back! Their office was in Quincy and the apartment was in Braintree! Very, very bad experience and very poor service!
I would never refer anyone to this company. And, on top of all this, the apartment was crappy and far from I was looking for. I spent a total of 2 minutes looking at the apartment and said no this is not exceptable to my standards.
