Val of A&S Realty has helped me find two homes over the last two years. First, she helped me relocate back from NYC to Boston into a rental and then a year later helped me buy a condo (both in the North End although we also shopped Seaport and South End). I had a negative experience with Val F. When working with her, she did not accurately represent my interests or requests to the landlord.

I worked with Val on my East Boston condo purchase. She was professional and extremely attentive with working with me on various aspects of the deal, as this was my first time and I had a lot of questions. She proffered advice without being overly pushy, and was always willing to jump on the phone or text to discuss any questions I might have.

Justin has been my property manager for the past 2 years. I'm a tenant at one of his properties. He is an absolute gem of a person to deal with - if we ever have issues, which we rarely do - he is extremely responsive (less than 24 hours, emergencies absolutely immediately). He is always going above and beyond with his help and I really cannot find a single interaction with him where I did not leave impressed with his professionalism and empathy.

Valerie is great to work with. We were doing a long-distance apartment search and she acted as our eyes and ears. She recommended neighborhoods, did virtual tours, posted photos, and let us know which properties to avoid. She is prompt to respond, organized and told us what to expect. Justin is fantastic. We used him as our realtor to help us find a place to rent in back bay. He is honest, will really help you see the pros and cons of any place, and he found us an apartment that we love. I will absolutely go back to him if we need to rent/buy in back bay in the future. This company also manages the apartment that we live in. Joel is really nice, funny, and takes care of any problems we have. I also recommend the management company.

We had an unbeatable experience using A&S to find an apartment as well living in a building managed by A&S. Valerie was super responsive and helpful while seeing apartments and made the application process as smooth as possible. The experience continued to pleasantly surprise us when we moved in to our Back Bay apartment. The building was well maintained and Joel and team were super responsive to the few minor request we did make. I have no reservations recommending A&S and only wish all my rental experiences were as pleasant.

I could not be more pleased with A&S Realty! I found A&S here on Yelp back in March, after wasting so much time trying to find an apartment on my own. It was clear to me, based on the stellar reviews that A&S was the smartest choice, compared to many other apartment finders in the area. I sent an email through their website, and was quickly put in touch with Valerie the next day. Valerie and I scheduled a phone call to discuss all of my needs.

After 3 days trying to find an apartment, these guys were the first to listen to what I really needed instead of trying to sell a place that wouldn't fit your priorities. Had a decent experience with A&S realty, specifically Nader. We found a great apartment and went through the entire process and got accepted as new tenants. after this conversation it was sprung on us that the lease terms had changed from 12 to 15 months. This was very upsetting as we were set to move in ASAP and really needed the apartment. Nader was not very good at keeping up with conversations and was not transparent from the get-go. Overall, we got left hung out to dry and it was a very disappointing experience by the end. Wish it would have worked out differently.

I had the pleasure of renting through A&S Realty from 2012-2014. I have only wonderful things to say about the property, the management, and my overall experience in working with the team. I dealt with Justin for the rental process and he made everything seamless, easy, and convenient. Joel was a fantastic to work with and was always quick to respond to any issues or questions.

I always felt "taken care of" while living in one of their properties and always felt like they took great pride in the work they do. I rented an apartment on Bolyston Street, close to the Marathon finish line, and was witness to the attacks on the event in 2013. I have to commend the A&S team for their efforts in dealing with all parties involved during such a horrific time. Residents were evacuated immediately and not allowed to return for about 10 days.

Even though information was limited, the A&S team did a great job maintaining constant communication. It was a challenging time for everyone, and I appreciated the team making extra efforts to keep residents and business owners a priority. I was sad to leave my apartment, but mostly I was sad to leave such a great team. It's rare to find this kind of customer service, friendliness, honesty, and strong management. I am always quick to refer A&S to anyone interested in Boston area properties.

Justin was very effective at finding a really good rental for what I was looking for. Joel is very professional, nice and experienced property manager (the 271 Newbury Building, where they operate, has apartments for rent). They excel at choosing/managing very well positioned properties. In my case, 1 minute from Trader Joe's, 2 minutes from the Prudential Center. Location, Location, Location. They operate fast and offer competitive pricing to their catalogue. I'll happily to go to them if I move back to Boston.

The guys at A&S really go above and beyond, and work hard to find you exactly what you want. They're not pushy, and won't try to harangue and pressure you into apartments that are above your price range or our of your comfort zone just to clear their listings. I've worked with Jim, Justin, and Joel for the last year, and all three are extremely friendly and very service-driven, striving to keep their clients happy. They're quick to notify you and keep you updated about any problems and work as fast as they can to solve them (e.g. - the Back Bay Power Outage in early 2012 or a building's busted water heater). If you're looking for an apartment, A&S has a great range of exclusive properties and with their level of service, you can't go wrong!

This is how renting an apartment should be. Don't expect to be bowled over by a fancy office and don't be put off by the lack of computerization. The level of professionalism and expertise demonstrated by our agent (Josh) far exceeded any of the local Craigslist hacks and "upscale" relators which is why we used them twice to find an apartment.

First off, they recognize and remember you. You would think this should be a pretty fundamental quality in any realtor, but these agents have a knack for getting to know you and your priorities and remembering it months later. Second, they don't play games. They manage a lot of the buildings they list, so you don't have to deal with cranky inhabitants who have had two other tours from Craigslist come through just before you.

They don't show you crappy properties first to lower your expectations. They have always been extremely upfront about any deficiencies since they often manage the buildings. Third, they're located in the heart of the Back Bay, right on Newbury St. so many properties are within walking distance. The realtors I've met are not Botoxed pensioners, but 20 to 40-somethings who live in and know the area.

More than once, I've dealt with realtors who couldn't take me from Newbury/Hereford to Marlborough/Exeter without managing to (somehow) get themselves lost along the way -- much to my amusement. The reason for the 4-stars is because they have not computerized yet, which is inexcusable in 2007. Instead they seem to be very proficient relying upon a system of clipboards and notecards. One can't help but to want to see a few pictures or a floorplan before visiting a property.
