We have a 24 hour live answering service available to take your call even when the office is closed. You must move your vehicle either out of the parking lot or to one of these plowed spaces so that your space and parking area can be plowed. Due to the layout of the parking lot, it cannot be appropriately cleared if all vehicles do not move.
We strive to provide each of our tenants with professional, prompt, and courteous service. Each of our Property Managers treats all tenants with respect and dignity. We will coordinate the completion of any maintenance or repair items using our extensive network of qualified vendors to ensure all work is completed.

I've been at my current apartment for over a year now and I love it. I've had no issue with the place, or the neighbors in my building. Everyone I've talked to in the office or on the phone has been really helpful and really nice. These guys make renting easy and are generally very quick to respond to questions and concerns.

They will cop an attitude with you about anything and everything (even just trying to pay rent) and that's if you can manage to get them on the phone in the first place. The woman who owns the company (never met her before this incident in my life by the way, I've only ever met her son) came knocking on our door at 8p one night without introducing herself complaining about us parking on the road.
We were told at move-in that we could unless the plows were out. She claimed that no one would've ever said that and we must be new. We'd lived in the unit for over a year at that point with no prior issues/notices regarding this. I honestly waited to post this review until we had our deposit returned and it was posted in my account because I didn't trust that they'd try to hold it or deduct from it for something petty if I reviewed them first. Save yourself the headache and rent from somebody else.

We rented at 12 Knollwood Drive, Apartment 30 from June of 2020 through June of 2021. When we arrived on move-in day, we noticed that the walls had not been cleaned and painted as we were told they would be. We also discovered that contrary to what we were told, the carpets were not cleaned. We rented a carpet cleaner and were disgusted by the dirt that was removed.
We also dealt with a continuous mildew/ mold issue and had to throw out most of our bedroom furniture due to this. We left as soon as our lease was up. I would think twice before renting here.

My boyfriend and I have been renting with hughes property management for over a year and have had a great experience. Whenever something needed to be fixed or looked at, hughes has never hesitated to fix the problem. The handy men are always very nice, and the office workers are super friendly. Overall great company to rent from!

Thank you Katy, Danielle, Matt, Patrick and Rick and whoever else is on your team. Show quoted text

I had a 2000 mile drive to get to Bangor so I insisted that this was important because I needed a place asap. I had an appointment to view an apartment when I got into town. Once I was in town I was ghosted. No one would answer the phone. I left multiple voicemails with both associates. I even showed up to the office after 3 days of hearing nothing. "She wasn't in and the other associate was busy with someone else".
After a week of unanswered voice mails I gave up and continued to look elsewhere. Great service guys! I really appreciate having to start from square 1 in a new town with zero properties available.

I WISH I could give them no or negative stars. We had put in an application after seeing a place that was being renovated and while we were calling to pay the fee the lady COULD NOT tell us anything as she "hadn't seen" the application from the realtor and we had to keep calling back to pay the fee as they kept hanging up. After a few calls we were then told we wouldn't be rented to as my fiance and I have just moved to Maine.
The reason was because we didn't have an extensive work history in Maine despite never once going on unemployment and always having a job. Never paid that fee either and I don't ever plan to pay them a cent. The owner was very rude to us

The owner's customer service is absolutely egregious and rude. I am appalled that anyone could be so unethical in the way she speaks to her tenants. In a time when our health, peace and well-being are so valuable, it is disappointing that she takes advantage and has absolutely no empathy or heart. Additionally, the grounds constantly have trash blowing around and they are neglectful in tending to service calls.
I called in June 2020 for a leak in my kitchen sink and they still have not come to fix it. I have to make multiple calls to follow up. ABSOLUTELY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Do not recommend renting here.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Management is disgustingly disrespectful, took days if not weeks to respond to emails, messages etc about our application process. Was told a place was going to held for me, and was lied to. Every time I called for updates on our application process, I was either told I could leave a message (which no one EVER got back to me, had to continuously call) or told my case was put in the hands of someone else and they didn't have answers for me.
Didn't hear anything for 2 weeks until today I call and was talked to like a child by some woman named Katie and when I expressed my frustrations, was told "I don't wanna hear it". Danielle and Patrick also ignored me on several occasions. All extremely unprofessional and shouldn't be running a business. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THESE PEOPLE! LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS FROM TENANTS!

I have been renting from Hughes Associates for a full year. and they have been WONDERFUL. If something needs attention in my apartment, they are on it. and if they can't do it immediately, it's done in a reasonable amount of time. The maintenance people are professional and kind and are honestly my favorite part of the whole company. they work hard, greet you with a smile, and have your best interests at heart. - The whole company is professional, hard-working, and one I would recommend if you are in a renting situation.

I rented Apartment 33 at Knollwood from July '12 to July '13 and, although the Apartment was relatively new and my stay was uneventful, my departure has left a bad taste in my mouth and I need to warn any new renters that they shouldn't expect their deposit to be returned regardless of what condition they left the apartment in. When I moved in a gentleman came over to conduct an initial inspection of the property.
The inspection took all of ten minutes and the only thing noted was a iron burn on the carpet. The apartment had not been painted between tenants. Since it was summer the windows were opened the moment I arrived and it wasn't until I bought a window air conditioner and closed the windows that I noticed the strong pet urine odor in the Apartment.
I tried to live with it but, every time I opened the door the odor hit me in the face. I rented a machine, as I cleaned I found the carpets were truly filthy, a big yellow urine stain well hidden by the berber carpet in the living room, the spare bedroom smelled so bad it was never used for anything but storage. The Landlord came over, told me the carpets were cleaned and professed not to smell anything.
At least he was was kind enough to deduct the $75 it cost me to rent the machine. I cleaned it twice, used pet odor neutralizer and the smell was reduced but, it never went completely away. I decided to live with it. When I got a new job I called Hughes Associates (the realty company representing the owner) to give my notice mid-July and was told an e-mail address to submit in writing.
I heard nothing from them in return and the office was empty every time I called. I just received my final bill for the apartment and, not only was my $850 deposit exhausted but, I still have a $10 balance due! From what I can see, the inspection was conducted with the fine toothed comb he neglected to bring the last time he was there. The inspection conveniently happened after I left so, I had no input in the process.
They say they didn't get my e-mail termination until 19 days after I left (over a month after I sent it) because the e-mail address I was given by them wasn't the one they used but, somehow, an inspection was conducted five days after I walked out the door. My fiancee flew up to help with the move and cleaned the apartment from top to bottom, cabinets inside and out, the oven cleaned twice and new reflectors installed on the burners, and it was left in as good, if not better condition than when I arrived.
From the inspection report one would be lead to believe that the place was filthy when we left. I was charged $210 for general cleaning, $175 for carpet cleaning (I hope it wasn't the same crew that cleaned them before I arrived), $120 for paint and patch. By contrast, I left my previous Apartment in Monroeville, PA and the only charge was $65 for carpet cleaning, the remainder of my deposit was returned and the walls were all patched and freshly painted without charge to me as they were before I moved in.
If you do decide to rent at Knollwood, be thorough with the move in inspection and take lots of photos as you are in for a fight to get any of your deposit back. That and don't expect the parking lot to be plowed before noon, the walkways and entries not at all.
