I was incredibly impressed with efforts of Rebecca and the entire team at Tache Real Estate. She always made herself available to answer all of my questions and most importantly. Sold a Single Family home in 2011 in Salem, MA. Matt worked with me to sell 2 of my homes, both in very different towns on the North Shore. Julianna Tache is by far the most effective realtor I have ever worked with, and I've worked with many. In less than 90 days she successfully marketed and sold. We own a 2 family in Salem.

Do not call Carol St. Pierre. She's very rude and unprofessional. She yelled at me. I was calling to get some info about a rental that o was interested in. She was rude right off the bat. First saying Hold on. Then saying I can't hear you. All with an attitude! Then I ask if this is a brand new listing and she answers " ya why" I then explain that I have been looking in this area for so long and had a few questions about the property. She then yells and says " hey I'm driving" and then hangs up on me. I was shocked by this to say the least! DO NOT EVER WORK WOTH CAROL. She's HORRIBLE

I would avoid Tache at all costs. This cannot be overstated. There is a reason their nickname around town is "Trashe". I purchased a home from them after a long search for a nice condominium near the train since I work in Boston. The purchase process was fairly painless and the realtor I worked with was professional and responsive. Everything wrong happened after the purchase.
I made the poorly informed decision to purchase the home prior to it being completely finished (it was a gut job). When I moved in, things started going wrong on day 2 when my sink backed up and my dishwasher flooded from it. I was blamed because there were a few coffee grounds in the sink. Then I had to clean up the absolutely disgusting mess that the plumbers hired by Tache left behind when they came to fix it.
A little while later, the cheap floor boards started coming up from the un-leveled concrete floors because they were not secured properly. A hole in my ceiling appeared. And then a horrible stench began to emanate from my shower drain and still persists to this day, approximately 1 year later, and no plumber can seem to find the source. Then my closet completely collapsed (under not much weight) in the middle of the night while I was asleep. Turns out they used two small nails to secure it to the dry wall, thinking I wouldn't eventually notice. Now, the paint on the outside of my house has started to fall off revealing significant wood rot beneath it, obviously painted over by the contractors in haste before closing.
There are dead windows in the front of the building that were broken by the contractors and just left there, making it look like residents certainly didn't pay upwards of $400,000+ for units. It's obvious that almost everything done in this condominium was done carelessly in haste, since I had already agreed to purchase it. I e-mailed the owner of Tache, Julianna Tache, about all of these issues, and never received an e-mail back from her - ever.
She decided to have the realtor that I had been working with to purchase the home contact me instead. The contractor returned and replaced the cheap floor boards that they used and I had to stay in an AirBnB for 5 days in the middle of a very busy time at work while they completed it. Not once did Julianna Tache contact me to assure me that my concerns were valid, you know, like a professional.
She just sent one of her realtors. The kicker is that the realtor was also in charge of selling a house over near Salem State, which is not near the commuter rail at all. I was contacted by this realtor, who said they could sell my new condo (that I had just bought maybe 6 months prior) and get me into another similar condo with a pool at much less of a price.
They were trying to pawn off a condo that they knew wouldn't sell, knowing that mine would sell instantly. They obviously thought I was stupid, but thanks, because now I know that my property is worth more than I paid for (the condo they were trying to pawn off on me sat on the market forever and was reduced in price several times). Now the paint is peeling off of the exterior of the entire condo building, exposing severe wood rot.
We had to replace the back entrance door, and it turns out the bottom of the door frame was just sitting on a bed of packed dirt, an incredibly lazy way to install it. Save yourself the time and aggravation. Tache just puts pretty paint and band-aids over every property that they gut and flip that stick around just long enough that it's been a while since you moved in so they can wash their hands of it.
The contractor that came back to re-install my floors specifically said to both my partner and I that they are directed specifically by Tache to do the least amount of work with the cheapest materials. Do not purchase a single property from them. Use Merry Fox or another reputable real estate business and avoid a mess after you move in. Trashe indeed.

I have had several successful transactions with Tache both as a buyer and as a seller. They were able to find us good deals as a purchaser and have sold every property over asking price as a seller. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I can't speak to the rental part, but it seems like a couple people had a bad experience. Tache has been in business for many years with thousands of transactions, so three bad rental reviews isn't a huge problem in my opinion.

My boyfriend and I found a beautiful apartment on Zillow and, after two weeks of working with Tache Real Estate, we had lost all desire to sign the lease due to the awful experience we had working with our agent: Virginia. Virginia was over three hours late to our first viewing, was rude to both of us on the phone (to such an extent that we were hung up on multiple times), and was either unwilling or unable to answer many of our questions about the property without a considerable hassle. Virginia repeatedly insisted that we pay her broker's fee (equal to one-month's rent) before the company would write up a lease, and didn't provide us with any written contract detailing the terms of this payment until after we directed her to legal codes requiring such a statement.
When we finally received a lease, the terms were objectively different than those that had been discussed on the phone and in person. We both felt that our time, energy, and passion for this apartment were not valued by our agent at Tache Real Estate. The only reason we didn't sign the lease was because of the awful experience and service we had with this company.

Full of crooks. Virginia doesn't maintain HER OWN rental properties, then will shaft you under the guise of help. When I started to suspect she would sell the house I was living in, I asked her directly and she never replied. Eventually, she admitted she was selling, that the new owner (Juliana Tache) promised not to evict all the tenants, which was a lie.
After the sale, I was constantly harassed and threatened by Juliana to vacate. I received a certified letter with a date, but Juliana illegally changed the locks 2 weeks early and told me to contact her lawyer. These people are shady, and they work with shady landlords. Virginia promised several things that never made it to our lease, then lied about it.
The landlady drives by several times a day and used to look into our windows but acts as if the bad plumbing and mouse problem was something we caused, even though we've been complaining since the beginning. Virginia and the landlady both "never received" our condition statement, which means the linoleum kitchen floor that was further destroyed when they finally hired cheap help to replace the 30-year-old dishwasher might as well have been done by yours truly. I hope all of these scumbags get what they deserve. I'd love to record it all and watch it in slow-motion on repeat.

I can't state this enough. These people are crooks. Virginia WILL NOT change the locks after Domestic Abuse cases. This is illegal. Her reason was because she didn't want to have me sign a new lease so that she could sell the building. However, she never admitted she was selling the building until the sale went through over a year later, despite multiple inquiries.
She never maintained the property she owned (persistent mouse problems, dryer cost $1 per load but required at least 2 cycles to achieve the vaguest sense of 'dry' for the 3+ years I lived there), hired cheap help, or told me shady solutions--like the time I told her all the outlets in the apartment needed to be replaced because they were so old and shoddy (1950s is my guess), they all needed grounding adapters, which frequently melted and rarely stayed in the socket despite screwing them into the wall.
Her response: pull the prongs on your cords apart. As if that will stop the electrical surges from melting all of my plugs. Or the brand-new windows that were installed wrong, so they let all the heat out in the winter, giving me $130 heating bills for keeping the temp set at 64 degrees in a tiny upstairs apartment when my summer gas bill is $15. Juliana will buy your apartment building, evict you saying you need to be out be a certain date, then will illegally change the locks 2 weeks early and tell you to contact her lawyer if you don't like how she does business.
They work with equally shady landlords to get you into shoddy apartments where the landlady feels the need to walk through your apartment whenever she wants but refuses to fix anything. Virginia lies, too. She promised us storage, as well as the deck and porch (upstairs used to have its own until the landlady decided to be cheap, which is always), which never made it to the lease and has since been revoked by the landlady's sister "the property manager" whose sole job is to stand around and make unreasonable demands, while banging on our windows and doors telling us they don't need to come in to fix something that's not even in the apartment. Sound ridiculous? Try living with it. Don't rent or buy from Tache. These crooks deserve to lose everything, and so do the tyrant landlords that hire them.

To re-iterate what others have said, if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. If I may also add, this is my first and only Yelp review that I have written. And also, I am not someone who likes to be negative or bash people or businesses for the heck of it. This is a legit complaint towards a highly unprofessional company. I am so disgusted and utterly shocked at how this "company" runs its "business." I rented an apartment for about a year through Virginia Carson.
This woman has zero professionalism and zero communication skills. She has a bad temper that escalates irrationally and I seriously think she is socially inept. Every time I'd try to contact her about issues in the apartment building, she never got back to me. She tried to exploit me when I lost my keys and made up a figure off the top of her head about how much it would cost.
No where in the lease did it state a fee for lost keys. The biggest issue, and the reason I left was a rodent issue that turned into an infestation 100% due to the neglect of Virginia Carson who was he agent for the entire building (6-units). I lived with vermin for 4 months because this woman ignored my persistent and frantic complaints of rodents.
This is what ultimately drove me out of the place. It's a shame because the building, although old and rundown, had a lot of character and really was beautiful. I wish I could contact the actual landlords who hired this lady because they should know they're losing out on money because of a lack of unprofessionalism and urgency to solve simple issues. I don't know about any of the other agents, but if you hear the name, Virginia Carson, RUN! Good luck to anyone dealing with this joke of a real estate agency.

We own a 2 family in Salem. Due to some terrible experiences through the years with tenants; going back and fourth to court for evictions, etc. this brought us to the point of either having to sell our home OR try to find a tenant with the help of a relator. We were so close to giving up on our house, because of all the difficulties we've had, for a good part of the 16 years we've owed our house. It's hard to believe that tenants can treat landlords so poorly. Anyway, we were just about completely tapped out of all our finances.
A neighbor of ours told us about Virginia and how wonderful she was. So that day, we called down to Virginia and boy are we grateful we did. She is down to earth, honest and truly cares so much about helping out her clients to find a good tenant. We can't say enough about her. During our most difficult days, she was there for us; giving us support, lending an ear to listen to our struggles and just be there for us. She went above and beyond for us and we are so grateful to Virginia for all the work she did to help us. Virginia is a true gem of a relator!

Virginia helped me find the perfect apartment within my price range and close to the train for commuting! She responded to my voicemails promptly and made sure everything was taken care of before I picked up the keys to move in! She even met me at the train station because my train was significantly delayed and she really wanted me to see the apartment when we had initially planned! I had a great experience and would recommend Virginia's help to anyone!

As a recent graduate looking for an apartment outside of Boston, the whole process was foreign and complicated to me - I also had a very short period of time with which to find a new place, as I was leaving for a trip. I found Tache through an apartment ad placed on Craigslist - I didn't check Yelp beforehand or I might have been warned away (so many of the reviews are scathing).
But I didn't - and I called and spoke to Virginia who told me that it was unlikely that I would be able to get a place because there wasn't any inventory. I was initially looking to move in September, and she told me that an August 1st move in date would be better and after a few days of deliberation (and feeling generally rushed because I was leaving for my trip) my roommate and I agreed this would be ok. Virginia was professional and did make a sincere effort to find the right place for me - which I really appreciate.
We did find a place that we love - but there was a great deal of miscommunication and confusion that I felt could've been avoided if there wasn't so much of a rush. Maybe the mistake was trying to move to Salem midsummer. Who knows.

If there was an option for 0 stars this organization would probably dominate the category. The customer service is uniquely poor and the amount of disclosure and lack of communication skills is somewhat close to a special education classroom of 3 year olds. It is a disappointment to talk to an agency with a group of uneducated self-renowned nincompoops with no regulars of how to speak to another human.
