Bert Powell is the only realtor I use in East Texas. I bought three houses using him and have had nothing but easy experiences with it. He is also help me rent out these houses. I have had the same quality experience. He is honest and direct and keeps his customers as the highest priority.

Bert Powell has without question made the largest contribution to the restoration of Tyler's historic districts over the past 35 years than any other individual or business. During that time, he has probably rehabbed/renovated and/or maintained close to 200 historic properties with the highest standards for quality and aesthetics; always at a reasonable price for lease or purchase. I would suspect that any low marks by a reviewer is ultimately due to his/her low credit rating or lack of appreciation for quality at a fair price.

Do not rent from this guy. I didn't have to rent one of his properties to know the lack of trust I should have in him. Some background: I'm a single mother who moved her with my 3 year old. I am currently renting a 2/2 apartment but my building just COLLAPSED so I was needing to find a new home. I informed this non trustworthy man that I needed to move, ASAP but still needed to get my current lease agree signed away.

I told him I would be doing it that evening since I was seriously interested in the property shown. I took my entire lunch break to see the property so was not able to make it to my current residence to sign off. I had asked if there were anymore showings or possible interest, he lied and said no. I then pay $42 to run a credit check (no where is it ever! over $30! ).

I then get a call 30 MINUTES later saying I was approved (obviously!) but needed to bring the deposit for the house before 5 pm because someone just saw it RIGHT after me and wanted it. One, he knew I was working until 5. Two, he flat out lied to pocket some of the application for himself. Three, he told me it would be perfectly fine to hear back from me since he "understood" my circumstance. He's full of lies and maybe God didn't give me that apartment because 12 months is a long time to put up with his BS.

Mr Powell is amazing and was willing to work with me since I was in the process of moving my family from Houston to Tyler. The room I rented was amazing, clean, and very homey. Apparently if you are moving Mr Powell also does real estate and you can get a discount on the rooms if he is your agent. I don't know about him as an agent, but he was very quick to respond to me and you could always call him on his cell if the B&B reception was closed.

This man was so unprofessional, when you're a sales man/women there's a certain courtship that happens a back and forth if you will but he talked down to me and my family I should be able to look into the basement that's flooded if I want to look under the house it should be ok thus was the worst experience I've ever had do not rent or buy from this man to put it frank he was an ass

Bert Powell, put nicely, is a slumlord scumbag. The man started an altercation with my then nine-month-pregnant wife while I was away at work one day. I could list the myriad of ways he screwed me out of money and slandered my name around town, but the fact that the man has no compunctions starting fights with pregnant women pretty much says it all about how his operation is run.

After I confronted him over fighting with my wife, instead of tendering an apology, he called the police, and notified me in writing he was ending my lease prematurely. If your alternative is living in a cardboard box, rent from Bert Powell. If your alternative is living in a crackhouse, consider going with that instead of a Powell Property.
